The Bazaar: Markets and Merchants of the Islamic World

I've shelves full of beautify books about the Middle East and the wider world of Islam. There is nothing like this out there. . .each double spread page, complete with maps. . . describes a bazaar and helps you find your way through labyrinthian alley ways. I just wish it was easy to carry around. Guess I will make copies of those maps and highlight on each, what makes that particular bazaar a "must experience"!

What an amazing book - i have been to most of these souks . The sad truth is that many of them are no more , since the Arab Spring 2011 ... Aleppo was my favourite, till it was burnt down in the civil war.

...I have not gone through the whole book yet, however what I have seen so far has been great and wonderful, highly recommended to anyone who loves travel or just for general interest, beautiful pictures, authors did an awsome job in writing this book, very knowledgable, comprehensive worth every penny...

I would recommend for any one interested in the history of the bazaars in the middle east. many pictures help reader visualize the feel.

Wonderful book.

I checked this out of the library, and when I get back from Syria and Lebanon, am going to buy it. An entirely different perspective from anything I've ever seen. Even if it does omit anything about the ongoing conflicts of the region, we already know all of that. This tells us and shows us something we don't know. When I'm walking through the bazaars in Damascus and Aleppo, I will be carrying this book in my head and seeing everything differently because of it.

めちゃくちゃたまらんです。大満足です。文章は英語ですが、スマホの翻訳機能を使えば充分に楽しんで読めます。写真の異国情緒の雰囲気も抜群ですが、カメラ技術も素敵だと思います。

記載のとおり、個人由来のマーキングありのものを購入。ハマムの男の写真の裸部分と、女性の小さな写真になぜか黒塗りが。裸に近いのか？まあ、安かったですし、イケメンでもない男たちの裸のために買いなおすのもどうかと思ったし、その女性の写真があまりに小さかったので、それを普通に見るために買いなおすのもどうかなということで、そのままで構いません。中東の写真は、モロッコが荒っぽくなったみたいですね。
