Bush War Rhodesia: 1966-1980 (Africa@War) Paperback – December 19, 2019

If you're into history as I am this really explains in great detail how Rhodesia was sold out by Queen Elizabeth, Jimmy Carter and Andrew Young and others.

Good and interesting overview of the subject. Thematic approach (as opposed to purely linear), necessary with such political conflict. The purely military aspects are a little bit underdeveloped (but that's not the point of the book anyway) and you'll have to rely on other authors to dig it up further. Many good pictures. Maps are disappointing though.

Peter Baxter "Bush War " a is a nice compact easy to read Military History of the Rhodeisan Bush War, filled with facts, maps and photo is a great introduction to anyone who wants to learn about a war own on the battle field and lost in Politics.

Great coverage of imperialism's last gasp in Africa, before the "one man, one vote, one time" regime of Mugabe made life infinitely worse in that once wonderful country.

A good primer of a forgotten time

Brings back a lot of memories. A good back ground to some of the bigger picture of which the Troopie was not always aware

Part of the "Africa at War" series. Excellent historical outline. Well illustrated. Helps put more detailed books, such as "Shadows of a Forgotten Past", into perspective.

Good stuff here. Bit of overlap with some other Africa@War books that cover Rhodesia but still worth the money.

Hintergründe die man so nicht kennt

If you want to have the overall picture of this period of conflict read this book. I was there in Rhodesia both as a civilian and as a member of the territorial reserve forces that fought the insurgents. This book has added more of the details behind the scenes. My grandfather was an 1890 pioneer that developed Rhodesia to realise it potential wealth and worth for the good of all its people.

Spent $50 on this ‘book’ to gift to my Dad, I receive it in the mail and it is absolutely tiny. This thing is so small it’s like a news article or a pamphlet - complete rip for this kind of money.
