light brown sugar
This is a LIGHT brown sugar, with a very mild molasses flavor, so if you re looking for a richer and darker brown sugar look elsewhere. The sugar was nice and fresh when I opened the tin, and I repackaged it in to glass jars. I am happy with my purchase, but will probably spend a few bucks more to get a richer, darker brown sugar next time I need brown sugar.

Brown Sugar is perfect for everyday use + long term storage!
I love having a few of these on hand for use in the kitchen. I purchase them when they go on sale, usually stocking up on 2 or 3 at a time.It never fails that I'm a bit short for a recipe or I totally forgot to pick up brown sugar at the store, so keeping at least 4 large cans in my inventory is ideal. The can is very large, and the sugar is soft when I open it.To avoid that hard sugar problem, once I open the can, normally spoon the brown sugar into 2-quart size jars and add oxygen absorbers. That way it is easier for me to store in my actual pantry. It also extends the shelf life. Once opened, the shelf-life is about a year.Is it a bit pricey? Yes, but then again this is emergency stock. I just happen to use/rotate my stock, especially if I forget to pick up something at the store.

Dented
The item is good a bit expensive but for it being stored and made to last a while keeps me from having to can . Amazon seems to have an issue with getting these delivered with no dents though ! I ordered 15 Augason Farm items and 7 of them came dented . I'm glad they do a return through Amazon though . But it's a pain to have to do it every time I get the items .

Confused about can saying that it contains an oxygen absorber.
I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 due to having an oxygen absorber in the can. While I realize that removing the oxygen is important when storing food for long term food storage. I package some of my own and with sugars if you use oxygen absorbers the sugar will get really hard. This will really be the case with brown sugar. You can hear the big clumps upon arrival when you take it out of the box. There are several articles on how to package different foods for long term food storage. Sugar is the only dry good I know of that your not supposed to use oxygen absorbers in( Nuts granola & dried fruit with over 15% moisture can be an issue) . If it extends the shelf life for awhile longer I guess I understand however LDS said that putting oxygen absorbers in Brown sugar can cause botulism. I'm a little confused as I had read that using them with sugar is never recommended but it wasn't that it can grow the anaerobic bacteria but that was the general consensus after doing more research. Brown sugar has molasses in it and it is moist so botulism can grow without oxygen. I would really appreciate an answer from Augason Farms as now I'm concerned. Maybe they test the moisture content before packaging?? I would think experts on long term food storage would know however I've read 15 articles saying to never store it this way. Thoughts???

No bale lo que te cobran.
Prácticas adecuadas para almacenamiento de mediano largo plazo,su precio y falta de variedad y seriedad del distribuidor en México no justifican para nada el precio.Muy alto precio, recomendable buscar opciones más dignas.
