Rockers Last Poke At The "King"
Rolling Stones Commemorative Edition: Michael Jackson 1958-2009. Some good pictures, but not please with some of the content. Like MTV, Oprah, and Mainstream TV Networks, there is a feeling of license to pat on the shoulder with one hand, while slipping the knife between the ribs with the other. They've done better pieces on Michael. Recommend instead: 1. Michael Jackson Vault: A Tribute to the King of Pop 1958-2009 2. Life Commemorative: Michael Jackson 3. Ebony Michael Jackson: In His Own Words and Notes From Those Who Loved Him 4. Michael Jackson: A visual Documentary

Nothing special, go with Ebony's Magazine Tribute
It would be an understatement to say that when Michael Jackson died on June 25 2009 it was hugely publicized. Shortly after MJ's sudden death it seems that every major magazine released a tribute to the King of Pop, just about every magazine tried to cash in (and successfully I may add) on Michael Jackson's death. Life, Ebony, People, Time, Rolling Stone and others released a special tribute magazine devoted entirely to MJ's life and career. Some of these "tributes" were quick cash-ins unfortunately and very few are actually worth owning for a fan and collector. Rolling Stone's tribute has interesting articles from interviews and articles included in RS over the years, a few nice photos, reviews of albums and videos and an "essential moments" montage of MJ's career. That's mainly what it offers. The idea works well and those articles were good reads but besides those articles there isn't much to say about Rolling Stone's Special Commemorative Issue of the King of Pop. If you want pictures you'll get some here but most of the other tributes offer far better pictures and more of them as well, there isn't a real pictures section as pictures here are attached to articles. There are too many errors in facts and dates to be found here, for instance the video for Remember the Time is said to be dated from 1987 (far from the truth!. The main point is that this tribute feels like it was done a little too quickly and clearly, Rolling Stone Magazine didn't put the time and effort they should have or could have and that's why most of the MJ tributes are superior to this one. The best tribute magazine is the one from Ebony magazine, it features the best pictures, articles, interviews and content. Rolling Stone's tribute to the King is not absolute garbage but unless you're a collector who wants as much possible I'd say you should go with Ebony's, it's truly the only one you need and RS is no match. 3/5.

They take some jabs at Michael and are pretty harsh in some areas
A back-handed tribute if I ever read one. A lot of facts and simple things that are common MJ knowledge are incorrect (such as repeatedly stating that Michael started calling himself the King of Pop which in untrue. It stemmed from something Elizabeth Taylor said and the fans ran with it). They take some jabs at Michael and are pretty harsh in some areas. Utter trash and a shameful cash out on MJ's death.
