Start and Run a Bed & Breakfast: 2nd edition

This book is chock full of great information for running a B&B if you live in the UK. Unfortunately, we reside in the USA. I did not see anywhere in the description that this was an English based book. Sadly all of the legal and a lot of the business information does not apply. Waste of money for me.

The information in this book is useful, but the style of writing is somewhat irritating. I cringed every time we were given an insight into how very important David is. The rants about regulators were unhelpful. And the author's politics shows through with frequent references to problems brought about by "the last (Labour) government". The political party of a former government is hardly relevant to a book about B&Bs. And for the record: the TV licence is not a tax, and although the BBC's website is 'free', it costs money to create and maintain the content. I recommend toning down these aspects in any future edition.

I bought this book on the review earlier by someone who then discovered B & B wasn't for them...it isn't for me either! Within the first few pages the author gives an account of the type of person who could run a B & B and I'm definitely not that type! So it was worth paying the money for this book instead of discovering later that this is not for me...a bargin! Maybe later when I'm more settled and don't have the kids around this might be a venture worth considering again and this book will be invaluable once again.

An excellent read - I have read it cover to cover - we are in the process of buying a B&B and this is proving invaluable. I would definitely recommend it

This is a must-read book for those you want to invest in the kind of sector , it teaches many pros and cons of B&B what interest me is the simple back of the envelope calculation to justify your net profit.
