New to resin casting - LOVE Ice Resin!
I am very new to resin casting. Before I bought my first brand of resin, I did my reading and Ice Resin had a lot of good reviews, so that's what I bought. It does seem to be quite pricey compared to other resins (like Castin Craft), but wow, it's awesome stuff. So far, I've made over 40 magnets, some cabochons and some buttons. A lot of them have come out "frosted" on top, but I'm learning that has to do with the mold, NOT the resin. If your mold is matte, the cast pieces will be matte. If you need something super shiny, you can brush a thin layer of resin on top once the piece has cured. The resin is really easy to work with and fairly low odor. I use it indoors, pouring my molds in the basement and bringing them upstairs to cure (since my basement remains about 60 degrees). Just measure equal amounts of part A and B, stir slowly for two minutes (making sure to scrape the sides), then let sit for five minutes and then you're ready! The pieces come out CRYSTAL clear (unless your mold has a matte finish). I'm not an expert at getting out the tiny bubbles, but most bubbles can be popped with a pin after you've poured. My only (semi) gripe is the price. Obviously, the bigger container you buy, the more you save. Other than that, I have no complaints! Make sure to wait at least 24 hours before you even THINK of touching it or you'll get fingerprints on it. Kit comes with stir sticks, measuring cups and bottle pours.

ICE Resin Works Like a Charm!
ICE Resin is very easy to use, and is crystal clear when cured. I had no bubbles, streaks or flaws in the finished product. This was my first foray into using resin for jewelry, and I'm hooked. It's nice that everything you need is included in the kit. I will definitely purchase this again when I run out.My first project was making pendants from a photograph printed on a laser jet printer. The instructions say to seal printed photographs with Elmer's Glue, or something similar, before pouring the resin. I did that with one pendant and with another one I just poured resin right over the printed picture - neither one bled. I believe if you use an ink jet you do need to seal the printed image, but with the laser jet it's not necessary. The creative possibilities are endless with this product. I'm really looking forward to working with it in my jewelry making.

Perfection and patience are a must
This is a great kit for those starting out or looking to experiment with using resin. Simple directions with a simple solution to hardener ratio. Ample supplies if you want to mix color or glitter into only a portion of the resin.I can't stress enough the importance of perfection and patience when working with resin. Being off in the ratio or not waiting long enough can ruin a project. Only con: i have had one "bad batch" in the past with cloudy results. For the most part, the company almost consistently puts out quality products.

Bad batch, won't order this from Amazon again
I typically order from Artbeads.com and I've NEVER had an issue with the product, but this entire batch of ICE Resin has been a nightmare. I've used this product for 2 years and I know how to get around the typical air bubble issue and how to get it to cure, but I have had to waste so much resin because of air bubbles. I make jewelry and cannot send out a product with a flaw, so it's important to have a reliable component. I can't return it because it's "hazardous", so I just wasted $20, tons of time and had to scrap several pendants and buy IR at the local crafting supply store at a higher price because this didn't work. I won't buy IR from Amazon ever again...not worth the headache.

Good quality
Incredibly easy to use. I am still working out what to do, this is my first time every using resin, but it's pretty cool stuff. This kit is great, I thought at first it would be very little resin, but actually it's a decent amount, especially for me who isn't making it for business yet. It is a great price and everything I've done has turned out lovely and perfect quality really. I'll probably buy this next time when I need some more.

I like the idea of the ice resin
I like the idea of the ice resin, but it didn't work well on embroidery thread. It darkened the embroidery to the point of destroying it. I tried it on patches I make so the messed up ones were no big loss. Probably works well with paper, but not on my things to do list at this time. I was experimenting to try to preserve the key chains I was making, oh well.

It yellows. It's too soft for casting, sometimes.
This stuff is crap!First of all, I have some clear castings that are less than a year old, and they're already extremely yellowed. They like look they're older than your grandparents, and have spent their entire lives just sitting in the sun. (In actuality, they've been stored in the dark, in jewelry pouches, at room temperature in dry conditions.)Secondly, I've purchased these kits several times over, and the product has some serious quality control issues. Some of the kits work well, others simply don't. When it doesn't work well, the resin still cures exactly as it should - in the time frame specified, and the surface is perfectly smooth - BUT it's far too soft and flexible. It's like when you try to make hard candy but end up with taffy. I always add a bit more hardener in these cases in hopes that it will help - but I ultimately learn that the extra hardener doesn't contribute hardness (because the kit itself is defective), it just makes the mix yellower. The thing is, I'm very exacting, I measure and mix the resin very meticulously and exactly as directed, so I know it's not me. Also, it annoys me tremendously that I don't have a single piece made out of this stuff that hasn't yellowed in only a matter of months!
