Educational and fun
My almost 5 year old absolutely loves this. Comes with two different books and there are a ton of different activities between the two of them. The dog pen is adorable, and it's very interactive. I love that it's an interactive way for him to learn and practice his math skills without a screen.

Fun & interactive way for kids to work on kindergarten math skills
Hot dots is a fun and interactive way for kids to learn and have fun at the same time! I have been looking for some ways to prepare my 5 year old for kindergarten in the fall but I didn’t want to make her do worksheets so hot dots is the perfect way for her to continue to learn at home in a fun way. The Ace pen is adorable and provides instant feedback letting her know if she answered correctly or not. I love that 2 books are included in the set and it covers a lot of different early math skills so she will be very prepared and ready for kindergarten. We will definitely be buying more of the hot dots sets. Highly recommend!

4 years later
Its 4 years later and this still works like a charm. My sound is not off, i didn't pay a ton of money for it, and my children think its a fun learning toy. I got this for my daughter when she was 3 and she was ahead of the curve but since she couldn't read all the way of course i needed to be right next to her in order for her to use it. We would have preferred if there was a button to push so that it could read to her so that she could do the activity independently because she thought it was fun but it was just that unless you're a great reader you need an adult. I have two other kids and again i can't complain because here we are 4 years later and still using it. I think using it at 3 is a little young, and that it is more geared for older 4s and 5s.

It offers a variety of math situations
My 5 year old grandson really enjoys doing the problem solving in the whole book and he really likes the dog pen. One thing he actually found himself was on page 29 with the problem at the top of the page where it shows the numbers and has the same amount of dots under the number. The question is to say what number represents the amount of dots missing which is number 2. After solving it he actually told me there was a mistake. Under the number 5 only has four dots. I was amazed he found that error on his own.

100%
I will continue buying Hot Dots for anything my kindergartener struggles with, in school. He went from complaining “Math is too hard, I’m just not good at it” go getting 100% on near every test. At his last parent teacher conference his teacher mentioned his confidence in math and his newfound love for it. I believe these books made it fun and gave him the encouragement he needed to really excel. I recommended them to his teacher, all of my friends, family, and just about anyone who’ll listen.

Great learning tool
My 4 year old and I love this product. I like that it encompasses a good variety of Preschool/Kindergarten math skills such as shapes, patterns, number recognition, adding/subtracting, money and graphing. She definitely needs my help for some of it (especially the parts where she needs to read a number word or a direction on a page), but that is how I intended to use it (as a teaching tool for us to do together). But, there are also lots of parts that she is able to do without direction from me, which is great for her to do while I need to cook dinner! She loves the dog "pen" and how it speaks and lights up green when she gets an answer correct. This product gets a thumbs up from my daughter and me, a former 1st grade teacher!

prepare for Kindergarten
I love this product because my granddaughter is getting prepared for kindergarten. This product keeps her interested in learning math. Her mother is able to see the improvement in her learning. Mom is sharing with friends and family where we brought these product. As see grows we will be purchasing Math for first Graders. We are also sharing with our friends and their families. We love the results that we are getting.

The pen is built by cheap materials, couldn’t open to insert battery and finally managed to open the cap, the pen didn’t work…disappointing

Not how it looked like in the description of the product

Anything that gamifies learning is a hit with my pre-k kid. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the fact that an adult must be present to read the instructions on each page, unless your kindergartener is comfortable reading.
