Best brush for both primer and top coats (water-based)
I am in the process of replacing the trim in my house with larger arts and crafts style trim. I am making the trim from MDF, poplar and maple. In the process, I have tried many, many brushes for both priming and top coats and this brush has been the best for both. The Proform Picasso is also very good and my second choice. The brush leaves miniature brush marks that will totally level out if your paint levels well. For MDF, I have had the best luck with a wash coat of 1.5LB shellac to seal both sides, very light hand sand the show side (less than 1 minute for an 8 ft section) with 220, prime with Sherwin Williams Wall and Wood Primer, sand with 150 and top coat with Kelly Moore Durapoxy (2).
