UNIVERSAL REMOTE Complete Control MX-3000 IR RF Color Touch Screen Remote Control

I recently purchased the MX 3000 on Amazon. It looked like a great universal RF remote on the site. After receiving it, I realized it cannot be programmed using a Mac. No problem, I brought a PC home from work that uses Windows 7. When I connected the remote using the provided USB cable, it showed up as an unidentified device. Also, when inserting the CD provided with the remote, the auto-run program would not function. I figured the problem could be solved by downloading the programming software from the manufacturers website -- [...]. That did not work either. The software is not available on their site for download. I searched for a device driver online and none could be found. I then went online and found numerous comments from frustrated MX 3000 buyers and current users -- all having the same issues. People who want to update their software are apparently directed to an authorized dealer. In short, if you are like most people and have either a Mac or are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you are likely in for some frustration if you purchase this remote. This is not a plug and play remote that you can seamlessly program at home.

We were in the middle of a remodeling our home when I ordered this remote. It was a few months after I got this remote before we were ready to program it. I hired a professional to program the remote (since that is the only way you can program it) I did not know you could only program it from an authorized dealer. No where in the description was this mentioned or I wouldn't of bought this remote. The professional opened the box and the remote would not work. He tried for hours to get the remote programed ( I had to pay this company a lot of money ) only to find out it was broken. When I tried to return the remote they would not because it was past the return date. They did not mention exchanging the remote. So now I have to purchase another remote and pay to have it programed. This has cost me a lot of money. I do not recommend this company to buy remotes. We also called Universal Remote company to see if they would do anything for me and they would not since I didn't buy the remote from an authorized dealer.

I replaced my original unit bought years ago. The replacement is great!

Product shipped incomplete. No Software! The remote is worthless without the software to program it.

Did not function out of box.

It was exactly what I expected. Had an old one and spilled something in it and killed it. It was going to cost me almost double to buy it from my local dealer. M J
