Mister Invincible: Local Hero

I haven't been this excited for a new comic in a long time. Great for all ages, young and old! Such a novel idea, and the artist takes it to such great levels and keeps pushing what it means to break the 4th wall in comic books.I will probably reread this multiple times in my life whenever I need a chuckle. Buying a copy of the paperback for my family members this Christmas. Can't recommend enough!I strongly suggest purchasing the paperback over the ebook version since they really take advantage of the book format, where they cut holes in the book to peek through or add an extra flap of content. Or characters that peek over at one another from different pages, etc. I did purchase the ebook as well, and I love it too.

I love the creative use of the comic format! If you like comics and are up for some silliness you will like this book.It is a bit over my 6 year olds head, he likes it but asks for explanations about what is going on.

This is great and takes advantage of the comic book format is ways I've never seen.But if you get this for you Kindle or read it on your computer, you will lose about 90% of the magic.Can't wait for the next one.

Great book. Almost feels more like a Sunday funnies in the newspaper than a traditional comic book (only meant in the best way).

My grandkids and I all loved this book! Mr. invincible is a lovely character who uses his ability to jump back and forth in time only for stopping bad guys.

You can't beat Mister Invincible. You just can't. Because he knows he is in a comic strip and will jump from panel to panel and page to page, peeking down to see what's coming or climbing up to give himself a hand.The joke has been done before (Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics comes to mind) but never embraced with such relish as Mister Invincible confronts foes who similarly make a mockery of perspective or jump through the page itself. It's clever and funny and the French setting adds a bit of novelty.I got it for our twins (age 8) and they love the clever violations of the normal narrative. It's fun and does get the reader thinking about story-telling conventions we take for granted.

This comic book is genius. I see it as a guide to Astrophysics, Metaphysics and wormholes. It employs such farsighted concepts as … well, read the samples and see for yourself. There’s way more in here than that… it will make you think. 8-yr olds on up to 80-yr olds will find these episodes mind expanding in the most scientifically advanced ways. You want to think outside the box? First, break the frame!

Wahnsinnig gutes Comic. Die innovative Weise das Format zu nutzen, Zeitreisen und viele weitere formatbezogene Superkräfte, die ich hier nicht spoilern möchte. Ein wirklich gut abgerundeter Comic, der auch einige gute Untergeschichten und Abenteuer hat. Ich kann nur empfehlen, wenigstens einmal die Probeseiten herunterzuladen. Aber das wirklich Gute kommt erst später.Zur Information: Das hier ist Band 1 und 2 zusammengefasst. Ich hoffe wirklich, dass Band 3 auch noch auf Englisch übersetzt wird, und sogar noch mehr Bände kommen. Am Ende gab es nichts anderes, als „Ich will mehr davon!“

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter, but read it in one go myself before she got back from school. The strips are brilliantly thought out, and some will confuse until it suddenly clicks and you see how the author was thinking and it all becomes clear.This is one of the most clever and entertaining things I think I have ever read.
