Kali Protectives Maya Mountain Bike Helmet

This is a nice, small form-factor helmet. It is lightweight, fits well and stays in place. I only wish that it had MIPs protection. That is my only gripe. Otherwise, it effectively disappears when riding. The other thing that I really like is the Kali company itself. I bought another product from them directly and they literally blew me away with their customer service. I left a comment by email and was called back by a company rep directly to resolve my issue the same day. This very much surprised me and showed me that Kali stands behind their products. They even have a lifetime crash replacement program on their lids. Just send them an image of any damage to your helmet due to a crash and they will replace your product. With most companies, I'd be suspicious of such a claim, but I believe it from Kali Protectives. I've seen that customer service for myself with a different product of theirs.

It fits. Good.It is comfortable. Good.The strap that goes on the back of the head is clumsy and keeps coming undone, and it's not easy to put back together. Bad.I haven't crashed in it, so I can't comment on protection. Neutral.But the really bad news, is that the visor is of absolutely no purpose!It's too high and short to keep the sun out of your eyes, and is so narrow, that the sun comes in from the side easily.I should have studied the photos more carefully, but I would never buy it again, nor can I recommend it.Just wear a baseball cap under it? Then a) it doesn't fit that well and b) why even have a visor at all?So, don't like it. Will be buying a new one which at least makes an effort to shield my face and eyes from the scorching Floridian rays. I'll be looking more carefully at the visor portion.

WOW!I cannot review anything about the protection aspect, this is my first helmet and I have not wrecked. :)If it helps I was unsure what size to get. I have a normal head size and like my ball caps to fit tight so get the S/M's. I am 22 3/4" (7 1/4 fitted) (58cm) head size. I am 6'3" and the S/M in this helmet fit perfectly.What I am reviewing is I wore this for the first time for a 15 mile bike ride and I can honestly say I forgot I even had it on. I think that is about as high a praise you can give something like this. Seriously I didn't think of it once. I got back to the car and was putting the bike away then realized I had to remove it. That means it was just that comfortable! If a helmet was not comfortable you would have to be adjusting it, or it would annoy you in some way. I had no negative experiences wearing this.I will be using it more in the future and will edit this if it ever becomes annoying but for those few hours I wore it, it was awesome to not even remember I even had a helmet on!

The helmet is comfortable and the S/M fits perfectly to my oval shaped 59cm or 7 1/2 new era hat size head. The paint is what makes this 4 stars. Either I received a mess up or the quality control on the black paint is horrible. The stripe isn't correctly painted on the stripe mold. So it looks off. Not worth $100 in quality. Lets hope the inside material is better regulated no mess ups.update:This is a comfortable helmet and will change to 5 stars because of it. I look forward to what Kali Protective puts out in the future and will be a customer.

There are plenty of wordy reviews on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. My review is as follows. This helmet is very comfortable and fits my size 7 5/8 inch noggin like a glove. So if you have a big head, you’re good with the L/XL. There is a big net and the lining is one piece (for easy cleaning). The visor is very secure (most secure I have ever had), but sits high. The only helmet I have had the compares in fit and comfort is the Fox Flux. I got it for $49.99, so for that price point, it is great.

Very nice and comfortable. Like the details like the head adjustment system and mesh protection inside the helmet. Have gotten some good comments from other riders. Would give it a 5 star if it had the MIPS system, but they do have a good protection system already in place. Great deal for the money and the sun visor system of bending and not breaking is a good design in my opinion.

My head is somewhat big, but not too large. I purchased a medium and it adjusted to my head well.Helmet itself is awesome. Super breathable, the net inside keeps the helmet from moving around too much, and it can really fit a huge range of head sizes from the length of the adjuster slider inside. Only downside is the camera mount; the mount itself does not come with the M5 nut needed to hold your action camera on the helmet (My solution was to krazy glue one in there so I could attach the camera). Since the mount is on the visor/peak and not the helmet body, the weight of the camera will cause some extra movement on rough ground. But the mount would still be fine for any lights you may want to put on there.All in all 4 stars since the helmet is great unless you want an action camera on top. I just use the chest rig instead.

Take the time to measure your noggen correctly and you will order the right size. The helmet is very comfortable and light weight which is important because I need to pay attention to whats on the trail. Packaging was great. I now work at a bike shop and we have lots of helmets but the Kali is the most comfortable helmet I have tried so that says a lot. Hope this helps
