Charles River Apparel Women's New Englander Wind & Waterproof Rain Jacket

I bought this jacket to use while rambling in England and I was drawn to the reviews saying that the jacket was lightweight and relatively waterproof.Positives: This jacket definitely held-up to the perpetually windy and drizzly northern England weather and I stayed dry throughout 5+ hours of walking about in intermittent rain. I purchased the jacket in "Mint/Reflective" and fell in love with the color, I get complimented on it almost every time I wear it. Also the mesh lining makes it reasonably breathable and I stay comfortable even when fully zipped up. The length was great, hitting just at the bottom of my bottom (Im 5'8").Negatives: Not technically a negative but I debated on whether to buy a Medium or a Large and eventually decided on the Large so that I would be able to layer in case of cold weather(which came in handy as we were also snowed on unexpectedly! See picture for my reaction to that development). It fits as expected and I was able to layer without looking too bulky, but as I live in Florida I wish I had bought the Medium to wear around the house or my freezing office. It is a tad shapeless and can make you look a bit boxy, but the cute color and durability convinced me to take a chance on it.Overall I highly recommend this product, I want one in every color! Our next big trip is Asia so I will be bringing this jacket with me and will see how it holds up to their weather!

This little rain jacket was ideal for a trip to Great Britain that I took this past spring! It kept me warm (and dry) but for really cold times, I needed layers as there is no lining. The warmth comes from the windbreaker effect. It has good closure at the cuffs and can be snugged up on the inside as well. I decided to order one size larger than my clothes and I was glad that I did. It definitely fits a bit snugly and knowing that I had to layer with warmer clothes, I needed the extra size. I love the color (kind of an icy mint color) - the color really popped in the gloomy foggy Highlands of Scotland! (that looked good in pictures taken of me!) And the best thing, it packed down fairly small - which is a great bonus when you are trying to pack light/small for international travel! Now that I am back home, I use this jacket for rainy weather and the hood keeps my hair dry with no danger of 'hat hair'. The length is also really great, a little bit below the upper thigh level. And, I haven't noticed it getting too dirty - which was a worry with such a light color. Overall, a great rain jacket!

Great buy.The jacket is really cute. The leopard color is a gold color, which I really like. Fits well, not too light or too heavy. Runs true to size- I generally wear medium tops. and this jacket was a medium. My arms are on the short side, but you can Velcro adjust the sleeves. I am long waisted and it’s flattering.

When it comes to rain/snow gear, I like to pick the brighter colors to be more visible for safety, and having the reflective stripe is a bonus on this jacket. Being from Colorado, I have plenty of snow jackets, but they are not waterproof for the regular rain season and too hot as well. I needed something light and fully waterproof. I do wish this jacket came with 2 more things: 1) a drawstring at the waist to make the jacket look more fitted - it has one at the hips to keep it tight there if needed. 2) an extra inch of visor on the hood to help keep rain drips further from the face. Things I really like about this jacket are the zipper pockets to protect any items, the velcro wrists to tighten the sleeve openings, and the material is the best part of this product - a very soft rubbery feel that doesn't make much noise when moving around in it.Sizing: I'm 5'4" and 110 lbs (30-26-34). I ordered a size small and this jacket works perfectly. It's roomy enough to allow me to put on a sweater underneath if it'll be a cold day and still wear this comfortably. According to the sizing chart, they recommend you measure your hips and select the size according to that to ensure you'll be able to extend it down fully when zipped closed - that's how I selected mine.
