Yes, it’s 12 inches but 3-4 inches in in the dirt, so it’s only about 9 inches tall. I wouldn’t count the part you stuck in the dirt because the plant can’t climb up that part.

I bought 2 different sets ie 4 of these. Some connect vey tightly but some are loose. So the completed stick is vey wobbly.
