Be true to your heart
I watched the movie first before reading the book. So, it was easy to adapt the characters into my imagination. There are some difference between the book and the movie, but most of the parts remained the same.I felt much stronger when I finished the book, that it is important to be true to your heart. Rosie and Alex built wonderful friendship through their childhood to adulthood, but what they lack was to overcome their fear to win love over friendship. That's why their lives were so twisted. I know it's easier to say than do. Apart from the book, I once saw "Kiss to your best friend challenges" through SNS, and I think they are brave to take such steps. Some might did it just for fame and fun, but it will definitely change their lives. That reminds me of the book, that if Rosie and Alex are brave enough to say it out loud their feeling, their lives might be much simplier.Anyway, I enjoyed the book as same as I enjoyed the movie. The author chose to write the story in the form of chat, letters, short messages, so it is easy to read through.

Fun, a bit long but worth it!
Rosie and Alex are best friends. They dreamed of big adventures together, like going to America and starting a new life, much different than their lives in Ireland. But Alex’s family moves away, to America and Rosie is left behind in her small Dublin town. Through emails, Instant Messages and letters, Rosie and Alex grow up and live their lives, hoping one day fate will bring them together again.I’ll admit that I never read or saw the author’s big hit P.S. I Love You. I hear it’s very good.I read this book because I saw this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zL3YJKygd4Love, RosieThe film is coming out end of 2014 and I can’t wait. Naturally, I had to read the book first!Funny enough, my husband was out all day and I was more than happy to sit down with this book and read! There’s a lot of wonderful things about Love, Rosie. (Originally titled Where Rainbows End.) The emails and Instant Messages are clever and funny, getting each character’s personality across clearly. It does read like a script or a play, dialogue driven and a fast moving plot. I love Rosie, who is young and naive but has to grow up very fast. Her story is one of challenge and self discovery. Of course I love Alex, who is misguided and somewhat selfish. I wanted to slap him so many times. The story is about how they keep missing each other. One is engaged, one is married. One is stuck in Dublin while another is in Boston. There are a lot of missed chances and heavy silences. While I did enjoy the book, I think it was a bit long. By the time I got to halfway, I felt like the things keeping them apart were happening to them again. One is married, now they’re married again, like there wasn’t anything new or refreshing keeping them besides their own stubborness to actually pick up the phone and tell the other one how they felt.It can be really frustrating when both main characters are keeping secrets from the other and that’s why it’s causing so many problems! GAH!Also, because the book is told entirely in emails, messages and letters, the format can be a bit tiring. While I devoured the first half, by the second I was dying for some descriptions on their worlds. The supporting characters were fun and added a nice touch to the story, but Rosie’s main friend Ruby was a bit irksome and I was happy when those bits were over.Overall, the book is a fun fast read filled with romance and heart. I really enjoyed it. It was perfect for a Saturday afternoon. And I can’t wait to see the movie!!P.S. – the trailer uses the song “High Hopes” by Kodaline, a band that I saw a year ago when they first came to Los Angeles in this tiny venue. Now they sell out shows. If you haven’t checked them out, DO IT!Rating 7 Would Recommend

A Wonderfully Warm and Witty Read for any Hopeless Romantic!
This is the story of Alex and Rosie who are best friends since their young age. we can see their friendship going on over the years despite the fact that Alex had to move to the US with his family. Rosie had a difficult life having a girl at the age of 18; she saw all her dreams going into ashes and was she confronted to the real life of a young mother. During this period, Alex moved to Harvard to become a cardiologist. One fact is they quite never lost contact with each other despite their own life and their own difficulties to deal with life. They were quite always supportive to each other and very helpful in the other's life.During all those years, they will be in touch via instant messages, letters, invitations, e-mails. So don't be surprised by the form of the book. There are many people involved in their life such as their husband and wives; Alex's brother Phil ; Rosie family: Stephanie, Kevin, and her parents; Rosie best friend Ruby. But we are also involve in the story of Katie (Rosie's daughter) and Toby who is her best friend .The big question of the book is: is a friendship between a man and a woman possible without turning in a love affair? Or can it be possible to be best friend with someone who is the opposite gender without messing up our own life ?My favorite character is Rosie : we see her fighting all over the years and she never gave up for the love of her child Katie. She was really down to eath too.The book is really well done. First, I was on the way to put it down when I saw it was only instant messages and emails but the story is so nicely written that It quickly becomes really addictive . I wanted to know what was going next , what will happen to them, what they will answer to the other one . So I kept ready until late in the night ..It's at the same time a funny by the way they talk and by some funny times and sad book: I was so involved in Rosie's life that sometimes I wanted to cry when I saw another bad thing happened to her.SO Cecelia Ahern did a great job. I loved this book so much.

You can't stop reading it!

Review from Amy's Bookshelf
This novel is the epitomie of romantic slush… but I still loved every word. The story follows Alex and Rosie, two childhood friends who grow up and together experience life and everything that comes with it. It begins with both characters aged 7 and ends when they are 50. The novel is written in a series of letters, emails and instant messages mainly from Alex and Rosie, but does also include correspondents from other minor characters too. While the letter writing may be perceived as something which cannot truly show the entire story, it does nothing to hinder the intensity between Rosie and Alex and if anything improves the perspective because it reaches a more personal level, revealing feelings that may not have been expressed out loud when one was in the company of the other.I don’t think this book would sit very well with someone who doesn’t like romance, but in my opinion I think it is Ahern’s best work. Previous novels of hers that I have read are ‘P.S I Love You’ and ‘How to Fall in Love.’ Both of these were also romance stories, but neither compare to story of Rosie and Alex. Every page is a very frustrating read because you just want to scream at both characters for wasting their lives not falling in love with each other.Ahern manages to successfully narrate these two characters all the way through their childhood, adolescence and into their adulthood while preserving an authentic and realistic voice. Not only is the book completely honest but it really captures a true relationship between two people, furthermore Ahern doesn’t leave out anything, it’s funny, painfully awkward and completely veracious throughout. Both Rosie and Alex are relatable; their arguments are petty and they both make stupid decisions, but that only made me love them more. While the ending may be inevitable, you spend every page just waiting for it to happen.
