Must read
This was a great read. Kind of difficult to review with out spoilers. The only fault I found in the story is not too much of a spoiler because you learn about it with in the first few pages. It bottles my mind how intelligent people, such as these two MCs are would take such stupid chances. Being pregnant and an action P.I. is just stupid...

INTERESTING STORY
Joe was a cop and Tajan was a FBI Agent, deciding to become PI. The sheriff wants to help them out, and also closure on cold cases. With a house they might lose, and wanting work, they go at it. Too many questions has gotten someone nervous and they become targets. With new clues, are they on the right track. Interesting of how this dialog was written.

I liked it
Joe, a former cop, and Tanja, late of the FBI, are trying to establish themselves as private investigators. They are behind in the mortgage when old friend, Sheriff Diekmann, throws a cold case their way. I like the way the story is told alternately through the eyes of each principal player. I thought all the characters were interesting and well-defined. All-in-all, It's a pretty good yarn told well. But it could benefit from a good editor. You can call it nitpicking, but small errors can be a big problem when they distract the reader. Just a small sampling: hyphens where dashes should have been used, hyphens missing where they should have been, repeated, bulky use of past-perfect tense. More importantly wrong grammar in the mouth of a news editor, "Marriage wasn't what her and Randal wanted it to be." And, "I had barely lived there a year," seeming to mean she hovered between life and death? No, an editor would have made that silly sentence read, "I had lived there barely a year." Small stuff you wouldn't find in a Michael Connelly book, in other words. Writers in general need to make sure they have the help and support of a good editor -- not a copy reader but a real, honest-to-goodness editor!

Great story, could not put it down!
This story grabbed me from the very beginning and would not let me go. It's been a long time since I've picked up a book and read straight through. The couple have a realistic relationship. The husband has been through some very rough things, but is working to get himself right. The wife has great wisdom in dealing with people, partially due to FBI training. All of the characters are well developed and interesting people. The story keeps moving inexorably and logically - although the logic is only obvious looking back. The author gives the reader all the clues, but it's not easy to figure out.A really good read.

Interesting
What happens when a former FBI lady, and a former undercover cop merge their lives in marriage andworking as PIs? This book shows Joe and Tanja solving a five year old cold case, and establishing their abilities andreputations. Their respective backgrounds and abilities compliment each other, making them good partners.I thought it was and interesting story with strong characters, who could carry a series.

There's nothing cozy about it!
I'm surprised that this has been descibed as a 'cozy mystery novel' because it is nothing like one. It is gritty and fairly violent in places and explores areas that are very far from cozy. Without spoiling the plot, I feel the story became a little far-fetched towards the end, but apart from that, I enjoyed it.
