This was reasonably priced and easy to use. I have blood work done quite often and have asked for my blood type several times, but it was going to cost around $1000 for results without the doctor’s orders. I really wanted to know my blood type and this kit was recommended by a pharmacy. I’m so glad I got this and would recommend it to anyone who wants to know their blood type. It’s quick and accurate.

This was easy to use. The results are foolproof, so this is a great and inexpensive way to learn your blood type.

I already knew my blood type as it was checked when I joined the military in 1970, and it was printed on my DD214 and my dog-tags. This new blood test was just to confirm and to give me confidence that other tests on other relatives are good. I'm please to know this test is good. Note: this test is easy to perform, pain free, much like a diabetes blood glucose test.

Almost fun, in a weird way, minus the finger pricking part. My boyfriend & I bought a 2-pack, since he wanted to know if his blood type was likely compatible with his father (who needs an organ donor), and I wanted to confirm if what I thought I was true was correct. I agree with others, 1) make sure you read all the directions in advance, so you know what you are doing before you draw blood...you don't want to have to go back and carefully read once you are bleeding. 2) even though I read the reviews, and was forewarned, I have a similar complaint about the lancet. We accidentally wasted one (and then had to use a sewing needle)...we pushed it down on his finger after taking off the cap, but nothing happened; when we were messing with it to try and figure out if we were doing it right, the needle shot out and retracted...so our one chance to use it was lost since it can't be used again. Evidentially, you have to push pretty hard until the smaller part totally recedes into the larger part...just keep pushing harder & harder until it compresses and you feel the prick. 3) I'm not sure if the last issue we had is common, but having enough blood was a struggle...maybe because after pricking his finger my boyfriend got light headed (ironic, since he has no problem with blood when he injures himself which is normally much bloodier), so he sat down to calm down...which might have decreased blood flow. He only got 2 good drops, so the small amount of blood smeared in the last couple circles made me wonder if there was enough blood to make the results accurate. When doing mine, after each drop I kind of sucked on my finger (without my tongue or any part of my mouth touching where the puncture was) to draw more blood out...seemed to work, as gross as it sounds.

My Dad wanted to know his blood type and since I didn't know mine either we got 2 kits and have some extras. I tested Dad first, the lancet was a tiny prick, minimally painful, not even as bad as getting a splinter. Dad's blood is thinner right now cause he has edema, and the only difficulty I had with his test, was getting enough blood from his bony finger, but it just took a little patience and some finger massaging. When I did mine, it was again just a tiny pinprick, had enough blood for the test easily but wasn't dripping like crazy. I've used lancets before for sugar testing, this was not even that big a poke nor that much blood or pain. We didn't even need bandaids, We have no bruises, nor was the lancet hard to use at all, you simply twist the end cap then pull it straight out of the end, don't push the trigger until you are ready to poke because it's a one poke lancet. I was very careful and read the directions completely before doing the test, we also did not write on our cards until after our cards were dry as someone suggested. The test was simple, straightforward and we did fine with it. I suggest simply reading the directions completely before you start and watch the video. I was able to do my own test without help, and helped Dd with his. We learned we both have different blood types and we had no null results. I would highly recommend this test as it was simple, fairly painless, and inexpensive as well as do at home on your own schedule. I can't speak to accuracy as neither of us knew our blood type prior but the example photos were easy to follow and distinguish if you actually look at them and read the directions. We have no reason to doubt the results, and considering they were different and we had no null result I suspect that we did get accurate results. Great test did exactly what we hoped for.

Works exactly as described. I only had to perform one test and I got a very clear A Positive result. Instructions were crystal clear and easy to understand. My guess is that most of the negative reviews were due to a couple of reasons-- 1. You didn't read the instructions. 2. You accidentally contaminated your reagents before you got started. To avoid the latter mistake I would recommend not writing on the card until after you perform your blood typing steps. Be very careful when you handle the card. Do not touch the circles with your hand or anything else, as oils from your skin will contaminate and ruin the reagents on the card. Having a friend or loved one act as your nurse will help a lot too, as you may find it difficult to extract enough blood for all four reagent circles from your finger before clotting occurs. Having a dedicated nurse to handle blood collection while you massage blood flow towards your finger will help with this step. And lastly just make sure you don't allow the blood/water mixture to exceed the lines of the circle when you are tilting the card during your final 'curing' steps. Don't tilt the card straight up and down, but rather at a slight 30* angle. Follow the instructions explicitly and you will do just fine. Interpreting the results was very easy for me. You can see from my picture that the first reagent displayed a typical reaction, the second reagent displayed no reaction, the third reagent displayed a strong reaction, and the fourth reagent (control) displayed no reaction. This result means I'm A (from typical reaction on the first reagent) Positive (from strong reaction on the third reagent).

Easy to use! This kit was easy to follow and informative.
