Amazon EssentialsMen's Classic-Fit 9" Short

I've been searching for the last year or so for good shorts with either velcro or buttons on the back pockets. I like carrying my big wad of cash in my back pocket so I want to make sure the roll of 20s don't fall out when I sit down somewhere. I've been buying Docker brand shorts for many years, but they no longer make their dress shorts with secure back pockets. This being Arizona where most of the year it's luke warm to hot weather you really need a bunch of shorts to wear near year-round.So I thought I'd try these Amazon branded ones, and bought a size 32 with a 9" inseam in the cheapest color they had just so I could try them out (color teal for around $13). This way if I didn't like them even after breaking them in and washing them it wouldn't be a great financial loss.Packaging is easy and generic: inside a simple plastic bag and a small tag. No stickers, nothing else to have to remove. Just take out of the bag and remove the simple, generic, barcode tag.I noticed that the stitching was solid with sturdy thread, unlike a lot of other brands that cost twice as much and yet seem to scrimp on the thread. These feel very well made. The buttons are solidly stitched on as well and should last a long time without falling out. Zipper runs up and down very well also.When I first put them on I thought the inseam might not be the short 9" that I prefer because it felt like it was a tad too long and was rubbing the back of my thighs, which really annoys me, hence my desire to always buy shorts with the shortest inseam. Well, I almost returned them at this point, but thought, "what the heck, for $13 I'll wear them some more and give them a try". Well, after a couple of hours of wearing them and walking around all over the place the hem softened up enough that it no longer bugs me by rubbing against the back of my thighs. So that's definitely a plus for me!I started to give these a one star downgrade for the only nit I have against these shorts: the front pockets seem to be about 1/2" to 1" shorter than I prefer. I would prefer to have the pockets be just a little bit deeper, in which case I'd give them a solid five stars. But because of this, I'll give them 4.51 stars and just round up for the overall very good quality and really good price. They're not quite Docker's quality, but they come close. The only difference, besides the pockets being a little bit shallower, is that while the cloth material is pretty thick (compared to many other brands I've bought over the years), it's still a fraction of a mill less heavy cloth than Docker's.So buy them if you want to try out something different that's nearly as good as top end brands, but costs a third of the price. But if you carry a big wallet in your front pocket then maybe not. But my Samsung Galaxy S21 does fit well in my front pocket along with my smallish wallet. I just wouldn't recommend carrying two big items in the same front pocket.PS I'm going to buy a few more of these to replace my worn out Docker's

These shorts are quite comfortable in that the material has a pleasant, soft texture. Additionally, the appearance is somewhat GQ while also having a touch of flare with the subdued lobster pattern. The shorts go well with a T-shirt or polo shirt.. Price is reasonable too. I bought the 34" waist for a relaxed 33" waist fit. I did return a 33" as too snug.

It is a very comfortable short. Relatively well made for the price and everything works well as it should. However, I hoped that the material used could have been bit better material. it is rather thin and feels bit cheap. Other than that, it wears well and comfortable.

These run small. Shorts looked good and fabric was sturdy.

I have been wearing size 36 shorts of this kind for years old with at least an inch to spare around the waist. These shorts tend to be skimpy 6around the waist

I bought a different color short for size 32 a week before this short. My husband loved it, so I ordered again in a different color and the same size. This particular one is one inch smaller ( I compared both) so it's too tight and button hole is too small and super difficult to put it on-off. Since price is very good and nice fitting, I will take an another chance of buying the same short in a same size AGAIN hoping that it was just the wrong label was attached.

These are fine shorts for leisure. Not the most comfortable but they manage. Not great for any vigorous physical activity.

These shorts are a great fit and all that was advertised.

Me gustó bastante la tela es gruesa y de calidad de la cintura creí que seria un poco estirable como cualquier pantalon pero no así que hay que saber pedir la talla yo uso 29 a 30 lo pedí 29 y me quedo perfecto el color se ve más clarito en la imagen y ya cuando lo tienes se ve opaco el color y lo digo por que acaba de ver un pantalón como el que muestra la imagen y al ver la bermuda se veía más apagada el color caqui.

Beautiful shorts , sadly the sizing is something to be aware of when ordering .my boyfriend is normally 36" waist , which I ordered , as it said they were true to size . When they arrived they were at least 4" too small on the waist band . So they were sent back . Sad really cos they really are fabulous shorts

Absolutely incredible shorts - true colour, they fit amazingly and are SO comfortable! Some of this clothing that Amazon Essentials do is just otherworldly in terms of how good it is! I mean, I'll put it this way... I've got a pair of Jack & Jones shorts that are absolutely fantastic, in every imaginable way...but they're not quite as good as these shorts from a company that began as a seller of books rather than clothes! (among other things ;) What more do I need to say? Forget name brands; Amazon Essentials is the future of clothes!

I was pleasantly surprised by these shorts. The quality is good and the fit, for me, is bang on. Was a bit worried by other reviews so nearly ordered a couple of extra pairs - one slightly larger, one smaller - but just went with my normal size and they fit really well. If I'm being pedantic, maybe a tiny bit larger on the waist but I mean tiny. Actual fit and comfort is really good. Will buy more!

The product arrived bang on time and fitted perfectly. I am a standard 33 waist which is often difficult to find so I was delighted.The colour - Stone - I have also found difficult to get elsewhere. Again it was exactly what it said on the tin. The material is soft, not heavy but not thin and how Amazon do it for the price I have no idea. But I am so pleased with them I have already ordered more pairs in different colours just now.
