Blythewood Bee Company Guardian Beehive Entrance

If you have small hive beetle problems in your apiary, I highly suggest a multipronged approach to rid your hives of the problem.Inside the hive, place beetle jails. AND on the front of your weaker colonies, place these Guardian Entrance units so the adult small hive beetles are held up and can't fly or walk directly into your hives.How do they work?Small hive beetle adults can't hover, so they need to be able to fly directly into the entrance, the overhang prevents that.When they attempt to land on your landing board and walk-in, there is a cutout relief around the entrance that leaves the beetle in a revolving door walk-around that does not get them into the hive.Very simple two screw mounting and the entrance guard comes apart easily when cleaning or restoring full access without removing screws.Simply put, it works... get them. I recommend these without reservation. Normal honey bee traffic in and out is not noticeably impeded.

The bees learned to use it very quickly. No more beetles. I use this with a screen bottom board with bottom insert. I feed them all year round with 3:1 sugar water with 7drops of thymol:5 cups of water in a 5 gal bucket for varroa mite. I ha e no pests in my hive. Central Florida. Good Luck:)

Did not get to use, arrived broken

I saw a few beetles during a hive inspection a few weeks ago and decided, after seeing some youtube reviews, to buy this product. After installing the guardian I checked the hive in subsequent weeks and found not a single small hive beetle. Excellent product!

This entrance guard has done a good job so far at keeping the hive beetles out of my Warre hive. This solution, combined with beetle traps inside the hive are slowly fixing a bad hive beetle infestation.

I have them on 2 hives, The idea behind them seems to be great. Thanks!
