How do i praise the author and at the same time condemn his deplorable lack of knowledge about helicopters
Turbine helicopters do NOT RELY ON RPM of the engine or rotor blades. It is the application of power through the collective pitch lever that determines the power desired. Turbine power is comtrolled by onboard computers. Finally avgas is only for piston aircraft . Please read up on the subject!!! Or contact me-a Vietnam veteran and helo pilot.

Fun Read
Its a fun read, but not as good as the first two books in the series.

Unstoppable read
Story flows from one continent to the next pulling threads together and adding a few more. Keeps us wondering about the characters.

a page turner
Fans of the fast paced global conspiracy technothriller will like this one for its global trotting hero Marc Dane. A former MI officer, Dane now works for the Rubicon Group, a dodgy (let's be honest here) private security company. The Combine probably had Lex Wetherby, a hacker, killed. Can he, and his partner Kara stay safe when someone has been passing info on them to the bad guys? Then there's Madrigal, who is being tracked by Lucy, who was a sniper. Some of this is just totally out there (as this genre can be) but the characters are good and the pacing well done. No spoilers from me but this is the third book (I didn't read the first two) and it looks like there's potential for more. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Would be a very good airplane book.

VERY TECHNICAL
The third installment from James Swallow has been very disappointing. I enjoyed Nomad and Exile, but Ghost focuses extensively on hacking and information technology issues and unless you are very interested in the technical aspects of hacking and the workings of the internet, you will become bored. I stopped reading the book halfway through, as it became mired in technical jargon and descriptions to such an extent that I effectively "switched off" as the story line became secondary.

an intelligent action thriller
ames Swallow spins an intricate tale full of action and thrills. I could barely keep up with his well-researched story packed full of both violence and technology. He builds a horribly possible high-stakes scenario with huge implications for future terrorism and provides us with quick-thinking and well-trained operatives, on both sides. His characters are believable, though rare, types. His well-painted locations are wide-spread and often exotic. His pace is, quite frankly, frenetic. His plot is superbly woven. His explanations are coherent, timely and sufficiently plausible - but never boring. His range covers finance, business, technology, geography, weapons, hand-to-hand combat, computer hacking, physical security and information security. If any of this attracts then I recommend you read this novel yourself. I realise there are two earlier books in the series but I haven't read them and so I'm confident you can enjoy Ghost as a stand-alone novel.

Cryptic
Congratulations to all the readers who finished Ghost. I could not, but I did give it about 120 pages. I found it to be dry and cryptic. There was no thrill. When I started reading I just assumed that I was going to like the novel, but gradually began questioning what it was that I was supposed to enjoy. I didn't come up with a good answer.

Just like Holby City.
Ghost is the third book in the Marc Dane series but can be read as a stand-alone. This time our Spooks style hero is working for the Rubicon Group, so he has more opportunity to work alongside Lucy Keyes and maybe more. The bad guys are a group of hackers called Ghost 5 and their extremely powerful software can cripple infrastructure. Marc is on the case to catch these hackers before they launch another attack.I enjoyed reading Ghost and it is more of the same. The structure is very similar to the previous 2 books, Nomad and Exile. The reader is refreshed with the stories of Marc Dane and Lucy Keyes plus many of the bad guys from Nomad and Exile. Previous naughty boys have a part to play in Ghost. The way this story is told, Marc and Lucy in their day job plus returning baddies makes this novel like Holby City, a popular British television drama/soap opera. But enjoy Ghost for what it is, an easy to follow workplace drama with familiar characters.Ghost is action packed with lots of bombs, guns and fighting. The violence was tedious and the death toll is very, very high. But I really enjoyed the technical Spooks bits. The plot was good and got off to a great start. Anybody being nagged by their energy supplier to upgrade to a smart meter will shudder after reading this enlightening and entertaining book.I found Ghost to be a glamorous, life in the fast lane, GOOD read that gets 4 stars from me. It also raised a smile along the way when the story reads…and Madrigal stirred awake on a collapsible pallet in the middle of the derelict office. She blinked at him, for a moment chastely pulling the sleeping bag up to cover her bare chest. When she realised he was alone, she let it fall away and swung her feet out and on to the dusty floor..

Good Storytelling but too much selling!
The best thriller you will read this year it is not by a long way. The author or maybe his editors constantly interrupt the story with references to previous novels in the series so much so that it becomes really annoying. Also the final chapter is just a by product of this book to set up future books it is just sell sell sell from a not particularly talented author. His books would be far better if they were all written as stand alone novels rather than always trying to promote the series. My personal recommendation would be read the first book in the series and forget the rest.

Disappointing,way too much ‘tekkie’ info
I loved the first 2 Marc Dane books, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Exile’.....’Ghost’, for me, was a major disappointment, Marc is back and this time working for Rubicon as he goes against some of the worlds top hackers who want to cause disasters across the world, I never quite understood why and that was the problem, whereas before I found the first 2 books ‘tekkie info’ interesting in ‘Ghost’ the detail was so detailed its not an exaggeration to say it might as well have been written in a foreign language, as for the ‘story’, it got so complex and tbh silly it was almost in the realms of a sc-fi fantasy novelI did finish it as wanted to and will read Book 4 at some point but for me this was a downgrade in the series and I hope the next book gets back to at least some reality and not cloud cuckoo landOn a positive note although he seemed a tad subdued I still enjoyed Marc’s character3/10 2 Stars

Chilling!
I read this book over two days sitting in a caravan, with rain hammering down on the roof and winds howling at the sides, making it pitch and sway, while I sat awaiting my escape and calmer weather! James Swallow chilled me to the bone, with his matter of fact style, which dragged me kicking and screaming into the cyber warfare battlespace! The realization that wars can be fought, people manipulated and public opinion so easily swayed, by a team of dedicated hackers is TERRIFYING! Thanks for that!

Getting better with each book.
This is the third James Swallow novel that I have read. I enjoyed it enormously, probably more than the first two. There is one main reason though that stands out for me. OK, these books are thrillers and you expect "the hero" to get into some life-threatening scrapes but I did feel, particularly in Nomad, that he got into so many situations that there is no way that he would have made it to the end of the book! At least this time, I did feel that it was all a bit more credible. (Well, as credible as this genre of book can ever be.)Really looking forward to Shadow being published soon. Shame it won't be available before my holidays as this is just the sort of thing that I like to take with me.Well worth a read!
