Deathless image
This book is well written and contain broadAmount of information on the image processing. Although it is not for industry practitioners without real practical examples.

Excellently Written
This book is well written and provides the basics to numerous image processing techniques. Authors do a good job explaining basic principles without bogging down with all the detail. I highly recommend this as an introductory book to image processing as it has been exceptionally useful to me.It is highly recommended to make use of the website if you wish to get the full value from this book. The website provides all the matlab custom functions and examples used in this book as well as the images. Additionally, the website has an existing errata and also has a way to report errors you may find in the book. Very impressed.

Took some time to receive and the quality is OK

Its Okay
This book is okay for a beginner level understanding of what Image Processing is and what we do with it. However, it doesn't convey a good understanding of the fundamental concepts and where they are coming from. Its kind of like the "For Dummies" series books.

Good matlab examples
Contents are OK, its same everywhere. But the examples are actually useful to learn DSP in matlab. quality is good too

Suitable for a practical introduction to the Image Processing
The Book of Solomon and Breckon is a good "practical introduction" to the Image Processing. It is an "introduction" because it covers all the basic subjects of Image Processing in just 300 pages; it is "practical" because it invites you to test the concepts with the help of MATLAB programs, the book is still useful regardless of the knowledge and the use of MATLAB.The style of the authors is, for me, nice and close to the reader, the authors sometimes understand the doubts that a student may have and clarify them, I think for example at the explanation of the 2D Fourier transform where they explain that the double integral is not to be solved by hand! I think this kind of clarifications help the student, especially the one that is no longer in school / college but who needs to improve his knowledge in a self-study way (this is my case). In general, the style is not overly formal and resembles a live lecture rather than a treatise.Although this is a book on the fundamentals of image processing there are also introductions to more advanced topics (for example, I really liked the introduction to image segmentation with Markov random fields) that arise, in my opinion, as effective incentives to deepen the discussion on specialized books (in relation to the example I think for example at Computer Vision: Models, Learning, and Inference by Simon J.D. Prince ).I conclude by emphasizing the friendliness and helpfulness of both authors, I contacted them via email for clarification and they answered promptly.

Excellent, not to be missed when dealing with Image processing
I am an IP student, and I had to deal with a lot of different books for my studies. Now that I have found this one, it is always next to me when I need a reference or when I am dealing with something I am not quite sure of. This "Fundamentals" gives me all the answers. It is clearly written, full of examples and is made of an understandable content. Great to work with, and a must have for everyone working in the image processing area.

A good introductory book with a general overview of
if experienced 2.5 starsif beginner 4.0 starsTo all whom read, please have in mind this grade is my subjective opinion on how well it fit my situation and background. The book will enable the reader to use matlab functions. A very short but effective theoretical explanation of each of the concepts is given just prior to it's application(I assume that his was the intent of the author since it is application based). The chapters are easy to read and become more valuable as the book approaches the end. Code examples of embedded functions are provided and their applications is thoroughly explained. The book in my opinion could be half it's size, most of the concepts are over-explained. This is good if you are new in image processing, but if you have some experience, it starts being boring and you start skipping text. The functions are not designed from scratch but merely applied to problems - though the discussions of effects and their potentials are very concisely explained. In my opinion this is a book that you will grow out in a matter of 30-40 days, with a decent overview and good introduction.

Ideal textbook
As a professional I always need to refer to text books and journals to get ideas on new problems. This book has touched all the major fundamental topics that you might want to refresh your memory on. All the topics are explained clearly and easily. The best thing of the book I would say is the theory and application approach. Irrespective of other books, the writers have provided sample codes to show how the theories are applied. This can be very handy to beginner learners to understand. For professionals, having MATLAB sample code can definitely help with prototyping a solution.

Caters for beginner or experienced
This book is excellent. It provides the reader with a very good practical insight into various image processing techniques ranging from basic to advanced. Whether you are new to image processing or experienced this book caters for both; it can be used as a quick reference or a step by step introduction to image processing with Matlab. The online materials allows for a much more interactive experience of this book. In summary this book is highly recommended.

Molto chiaro!
