Murder mysteries to die for...
This DVD box set feature 3 movies 'Dead Man's Folly', 'Murder in Three Acts' and 'Thirteen at Dinner'All 3 are films based on the books of Agatha Christie and feature her most famous creation, the Belgian detective 'Hercule Poirot' played in all 3 movies by the great Peter Ustinov who played Poirot in a total of six movies. Ustinov was a excellent 'Poirot' but in my opinion not as good as David Suchet in the TV series made later. The 3 on show here are good 'TV' movies but not the best ones he made (for me they are 'Evil under the sun' and 'Death on the Nile').The DVD has 'Dead Man's Folly', 'Murder in Three Acts' and 'Thirteen at Dinner' in all their glory, picture and sound are great and as good as the day they were filmed.Thirteen at Dinner (1985) - Is also know as 'Lord Edware dies', stars Peter Ustinov along with Faye Dunaway, Johnathon Cecil, Bill Nighy, John Stride, Diane Keen and amongst others and very strangely David Suchet as Inspector Japp (David Suchet would go on to play Poirot in the TV series of the same name to great effect and completed every single 'case' Christie wrote in the series). Also appearing in the movie is David Frost, Pamela Salem and blink and you miss them are Sue Lloyd and comedian Tony Hawks. The plot of the movie revolves around Lady Edgware asking Poirot for help in gaining a divorce from her husband who is subsequently murdered, Lady Edgware Jane Wilkinson is the prime suspect having beenseen at the scene but has an alibi. An actress and impersonator called Carlotta Adams is found dead leaving Poirot to unravel what has really happened.Dead mans folly (1986) - stars Peter Ustinov along with Jean Stapleton, Tim Pigott-Smith, Jonathan Cecil, Kenneth Cranham, Nicollette Sheridan, Caroline LangrisheThe plot centres around crime writer Ariadne Oliver setting up a murder mystery at a charity fete in the grounds of a house owned by Sir George Stubbs, when the pretend murder victim is found dead and Lady Stubbs is missing Poirot investigates.Murder in three acts (1986) - Peter Ustinov stars along with Tony Curtis, Emma Samms, Jonathan Cecil, Lisa Eichorn and others. The plot sees Poirot attending a party throw by his friend Sir Charles Cartwright (Curtis), during which one of the guests dies seemingly of natural causes. At a second party not attended by either Poirot or Cartwright but attended by everyone else a second person Doctor Strange dies which proves to be poisoning, subsequently the first death is deemed to be a murder also. Poirot instigates a third party with all in attendance to solve the murders. All 3 films are enjoyable and will keep people who don't know who did it guessing, but as I said before they are not the best Poirot movies that Ustinov made. They still worth watching and having in your collection.

Agatha Christie Collection: Featuring Peter Ustinov
Arrived in the morning. All watched by teatime! Fantastic to see them! Good Quality, I am a great fan of Peter Ustinov, especially in his role as Hercule Poirot the Belgian detective created by the great Agatha Christie. If you are a fan? Then these are just the best! Just to confirm the three discs are "Dead Man's Folly" (Jean Stapleton), "Murder in Three Acts" (Tony Curtis) & "Thirteen at Dinner" (Faye Dunaway & David Suchet).

Picture quality very dated
For some reason I thought they would be digitally remastered so the picture quality isn’t great & very dated, it doesn’t re-size to wide screen so it’s a weird square, but I did want these films so it was a risk & will still enjoy watching them.
