is this splint primirialy for temporary and or short term usage (in case of emergency)?

I believe the intention is for short term use but it is sturdy enough to be useful long term. It is very compact and fits in your med kit pack nicely.

What are the dimensions when rolled up? Trying to figure out if I can fit this in a first aid kit I'm building.

It is just under 11" in circumference and 4" tall. This is really too large for most kits. Still, I can't recommend this enough. I do long hikes either alone or leading groups. Constructing a makeshift splint in the wilderness is nothing anyone wants to do. This is very light and while it will take some room up in your pack, you won't feel it. I keep mine is a small mesh bag.
