Molecular & Cell Biology For Dummies, 2nd Edition

It’s been about 10 years since I’ve taken a biology class, so I needed to brush up on a few topics before signing up for a molecular biology course and this book provided a ton of knowledge in an easily digestible form! Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to learn more about molecular and cellular biology.

I give this book five stars. Why? It provides a high level overview of Molecular and Cell Biology. I would suggest after reading this text and if you truly desire to further explore this topic there are other more in-depth College text books by Alberts, Lodish and Karp. A previous review said that if you have this book or Biochemistry for Dummies that you don’t need both. I disagree. There is overlap but they’re two distinct fields of study. .

This book is a great introduction to this challenging discipline. It makes it fun and understandable. It encourages the student to continue the research. Hopefully this will lead to better health for generations to come. Molecular biology holds the key for a better humanity. Well done, we need more teachers like her.

Excellent book on Cell and Molecular Biology. Huge improvement over the 2009 first edition. Chocked full of info from entry level cell anatomy through detailed cellular function and molecular biology.

I am finding this book an excellent introduction in the subject of molecular biology. Not being a biologist myself, the book presented this very interesting subject from an introductory level to an advanced level. There were sufficient diagrams and features in the book to make the subject of molecular biology understandable and easy to follow.

A sound explanation of cells and molecules. The language is clear and illustrations useful. But be aware - the material here is not superficial fluff. You need to become conversant with a lot of topic-specific language and terminology ( a glossary would be helpful in this book, but is lacking). The density level is pretty high. That’s not necessarily a criticism: I prefer something heavier rather than lighter. But you need to be prepared.
