Fantastic coffee, worth experiencing.
I first tried 49th Parallel at one of their locations up in Vancouver, B.C. I went to order directly from them, but the international shipping costs to the US were too high, unless your order is greater than $50. The coffee that I got came from Las Vegas, which I thought was interesting, as I don’t think they have a location there. It’s possible that’s where Amazon’s distribution warehouse is? When I received the coffee, I noticed the roast date was about a month old. I’m somewhat of a coffee snob and usually prefer coffee that’s more freshly roasted (I.e. Blue Bottle), but upon trying the coffee, I was impressed. It’s probably one of the best coffee’s I’ve tasted, and it’s made me want to order in bulk, directly from 49th Parallel. Do yourself a favor and try the coffee. For reference, I brew via chemex, and purchased the Longitude 123 Blend.

Great aroma, low acid and smooth, but a little weak flavored.
Pros:- Fantastic smell / Aroma during unpackaging, grinding and brewing- A very vibrant and almost fruity note mid-palette during tasting- Very low acid - does not seem to cause any tummy problems- relatively high caffeine level - a single cup had me a little buzzed, and I am a die-hard multicup drinker.Cons:- Weak for those of us who like a bolder roast- A little pricey considering that Gevalia has most of these characteristics for about half the price. Here's my story:I got a shiny new coffee pot for Christmas and wanted to splurge on some decent beans to try it out. The 49th parallel coffee was rated really high in several websites, so I couldn't wait for it to arrive. Thankfully the supernaturally fast Amazon prime delivery made sure the wait wasn't too long. When I opened the box, the smell of rich coffee hit my nose, and I thought I made the right choice. However, the coffee was a bit dry-looking and not full of oils like my typical slightly over-roasted Starbucks beans. When I ground the beans the smell again was wonderful. But the resulting grind was very light in color and very dry. I put in a little extra grounds to compensate. The tasing:1) Very light, almost fruity notes in the coffee.2) Very low on acid, so should be good for those who get a sour stomach when drinking high-end coffee.3) Very good notes of caramel and nuts. but not enough bitterness, so the overall effect is that the coffee tastes weak. I repeated the test with a completely full basket of grounds and pretty much got the same results. Weak coffee. So, my overall rating is that this is a great coffee for those who like a very light roast. The 49th company packages and roasts their coffee well, and I probably would have been happier with a dark roast. Will try another variant and report back.

Extreamly stale
I ordered this because I couldn't wait for the bag my mother sent from Canada. Usually you can smell the coffee before you even open the bag and I could barely smell anything once I opened it. I thought maybe my nose was stuff and that's why I couldn't smell it. I was wrong it was just really stale. I brewed some in my French press and there wasn't any oil on top like there usually was. The taste was so bland, not like the bold flavor I'm used to. When the bag my mother sent arrived I could smell it as soon as I opened her care package. I did a taste test and it confirmed, the bag I bought was extreamly stale. Save your money it's not worth buying, it does 49th parallel no justice. FYI it was cheaper for my mother to buy a fresh bag and ship it than it was to purchase on Amazon.

A friend told me to try this coffee...
I have been buying a certain brand of coffee that I was quite happy with, (that will go unnamed). It was premium organic small batch limited edition coffees. I told a friend what I was drinking, and he told me to try 49th Parallel coffee, which I did. I got the espresso light (floral) and the espresso medium (choc caramel). I immediately noticed that this, surprising to me, was an upgrade. The coffee has great flavor, a punch, when it gets to your taste buds, now the other coffees are sitting in the fridge, waiting... lolTry this brand, it is kind of pricey, but well worth it, to me.

labeling is all over the place
It's an ok medium-light roast if that's your thing, but it isn't mine. I got this thinking it was a medium-dark roast, but it's not and the descriptions are all over the place. 49th Parallel's marketing copy says it's a medium-dark roast. The Amazon listing says it's a medium roast. But the bag itself reads "medium-light" in the tiniest font. It's not terrible for a medium-light roast, but it's definitely not what I was expecting.

Very fresh
My husband is a coffee snob, and when the pandemic hit we despaired that we couldn’t go to our local distributor to buy the freshly roasted pound of coffee each week that he prefers for our espresso machine. After a bit of research we took a chance on this product and voila! He’s happy. With Amazon’s quick delivery we don’t have to go without..

Bland
This coffee was surprisingly stale. I ground it fresh in my hario slim and played with the ground setting and couldn't get a decent taste. I don't think it's the 49th parallel that's the problem. The bag looks great and has great presentation, so my guess it's Amazon's storage mechanism. So I'd buy this coffee straight from 49th, but not from Amazon.

Yummy!
Yummy coffee! I had a coffee delivery delayed so I got this bag with Prime Shipping to hold me over. This is a yummy coffee, I think I'll buy more. It had a nice "small batch" quality to it. Not a grocery store bag of coffee. Prime Delivery sweetened the deal all the more.

49th Parallel is great but order from them directly.
This is my favourite roaster but I won't purchase from Amazon again. You will get beans that were roasted a month ago. I ended up subscribing to 49th directly and I get freshly roasted beans every month.

This coffee is fantastic, but not if it is 6 months past their roasting date
I have purchased this coffee several times before from my local shop. I love light roasting with sweet, acidic and caramel notes, and these beans, when freshly grounded, have a very special taste that fits within that spectre.I have, however, received a coffee that had been roasted on May 2020 (6 months before), and that was also past their best before date. It tasted really bad and not even close to the same package that I am able to purchase locally. We ended up returning it after tasting it twice. It would be very useful for customers if fields containing information on the fabrication/manufacture/preparation date and expiry date were included in this page.

Not my cup of joe
The coffee beans are overly dry, smell like stale coffee. Because of these issues, finding the correct grind setting for espresso drinks is very difficult, resulting in bitter tasting coffee. The company should provide a the date the coffee was roasted on the bag and make sure that they are shipped no later than 3 weeks post roasting. Very disappointing!

Disappointed
Crema was on the low side. Flavour was noticeably bitter. As a straight shot espresso it was not pleasant but better with milk. There was no date on the package so there is no way to tell if these were old beans. Not recommended.

Good coffee but roast date was a little old
I've always purchased these beans directly from the roasters website ( 49th parallel) for many years but decided to order from Amazon this time for convenience. Beans came with a roast date that was over 3 weeks old as opposed to one day old when I purchase directly from 49th parallel. Coffee was good but when it is freshly roasted it makes a world of difference for me in taste and aroma. Still worth trying it as 49th parallel makes some of my favourite coffees, especially their Epic Espresso.
