Mandolin Christmas Songbook Paperback – November 5, 2015

I've been playing Mandolin for less than a month and got this to practice for Christmas in a little over a Month. The songs are great traditional songs. There are some really easy songs for those who just started and some less easy ones for those who have been playing for a little while but are still beginners. I would have liked some cord charts on each page as a convenient reminder but there are charts in the back of the book.

This is an excellent book of carols for the mandolin. It has both the regular music and tablature with chords. It has a great selection too. Of course, a more advanced player would look for more ornamentation, but it is not hard to figure out where to add tremolo and other improvisation. Sometimes the songs like The First Noel seem to end abruptly and need more. On a whole, though I really like this book and keep it around for reference. You will look for other carol books and more songs after you have played for a while, as I did, but this remains a standby. I got this to replace a book that got worn out from so much use and dragging around.

Easy, single-note songs for the beginner mandolin player. I found a few note errors and the chording is onerous for some songs, but otherwise it's a great book for learning some wonderful sing-along Christmas songs.

This is much like the Parkin' Lot Pickers series. The tab is dead on for the melody lines but there's nothing extra. You have to provide the additional notes to make a solid mandolin solo.

Easy to read tabulature and musical staff. Includes chording and words.

This book has a little something for everyone. We bought it, planning to learn 2 or more songs before the holidays. Besides the old favorites, there are other fun songs, such as 'Up on the Roof Top' and 'Toyland'!It looks easy enough for beginners, but others would enjoy it, also.

The only things that make this a "Mandolin Christmas Song Book" are the picture of two mandolins on the cover, and a page of mandolin chord charts at the end of the book. The rest of the book is a basic "fake" book with chord names above the words. The chords are standard basic C-G-D7 "fake book" chords, nothing elaborate (no G augmented with a flatted ninth in here!), and not all of the chord changes are authentic but they are useable.Only the first verse of each song is printed in the book. So this won't do if you like singing the entire song.Amazon offers "The Ultimate Christmas Fake Book" for $16.47. It has *275* songs, all the verses are printed, and the chords used for the songs are much better (seriously, nice accurate chords where appropriate). The only thing it lacks is a mandolin chord chart at the back of the book. Download a free app to your smartphone or iPad, print a chord chart off the Internet, or buy a mandolin chord book and you'll be good to go.Happy Holidays!

I wanted a book of Christmas music to play on the mandolin....this is it, it is great, I am a beginner, this worked well for me.

The mandolin christmas song book is ideal. It has all the best known songs clearly notated with chord symbols as well.

C'est intéressant pour ceux qui veulent chanter en s'accompagnant à la mandoline. Mais c'est un peu le service minimum: pas de solos différents de la ligne de chant, pas de CD joint ... Sinon c'est un bon recueil bien transcrit
