Didn't realize how much I needed the controls.
I thought I would enjoy the minimalistic approach of no controls. I don't. There are two controls inside, basically just the boost and compression level. This thing makes a really nice sound when you are playing, but is also very noisy when you aren't. If you turn the compression and gain way down the noise level drops, but so does the effect of the compression. I couldn't find a happy medium and returned mine and got a Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone Micro and its exactly what I wanted. If this box happens to produce the exact tone you are looking for, you can't go wrong. Its very well built and won't take up much space on a pedalboard. If you are like me and need at least a little bit of control without opening up the box, then look elsewhere. Sound of the 70's
Once I got the internal trim pots dialed into my instruments, it did a good job recreating the sound from the 70's I was looking to recreate.
