Ever since I held a Waldorf doll in my arms, I yearn to make my own. Like Steffi Stern describes in her introducing chapters, Waldorf dolls have a comforting quality for people of all ages. It is especially true for life-size dolls who weigh as much as real babies. Steffi Stern beautifully illustrated her book with photographs and instructional drawings. She describes in detail which supplies are needed to make her dolls, and in the back of the book, you can find a list of online retailers in England, Australia, Canada, and the USA. She also gives money-saving tips on using materials that we already have at home. Each doll comes with body templates that can be used as-is or enlarged by 250%. The illustrations leave no question open on how to assemble and accessorize the dolls. I like that there are interchangeable options for skin tone, heads, hair, and feet. There are endless opportunities for personalization. I feel comfortable that I can make a doll from this book, and I am already looking for material in the house that I can use to make it.

What a lovely book to own if you ever even thought about making a doll. A variety of types to choose from at various skill levels. Even if you never make a doll you will just love using it for you clothes patterns and the lovely stories.
