Yo-Kai Watch Standard Edition Guide Paperback – November 6, 2015

I bought this guide for 2 reasons – the yokai compendium, and the maps. It gave me exactly what I wanted. So, two thumbs up. The guide is split into 7 sections.1) Game Basics – Goes over the basic mechanics of the game. Since I already started playing before buying this guide, I glossed over it. The game teaches you this so, I’m going to assume most people skip over this section.2) Walkthrough – Exactly what it is. It gives you a list of the main objectives that should be met in the chapter. It gives combat tips when fighting bosses and which yokai should have in your team. Whether it is spoiler-free, it’s hard to decide. I don’t think it really reveal anything that I don’t already know from my own playthrough. But if you are buying a guide, expect some spoilers to an extent.3) Subquests – This is also important section for me. I was able to get most of the quests/favors on my own, but there were a few obscure ones that I didn’t realize I missed.4) Maps – Exactly what is says. It shows the location of chests. Plus, it shows the division of the towns, where yokai are located. This was a huge help when you are trying to find a particular yokai.5) Into the Game – Extra stuff. Information about the coins, special events, hidden bosses, yokai cam and how to maximized your team.6) Medallium - The compendium is comprehensive. Where to find the yokai, what foods the like and rarity. The compendium is listed in the exact order as the game’s. My only thing is that it was hard to find yokai. I knew which yokai I wanted to collect but I have to flip through the whole thing to find the one. There is an index but does not refer to individual yokai. So, my wrist got a lot tired from the constant flipping.7) Data Watch – Lists and Tables of skills, items, equipment and store inventory. This was really helpful when I was searching for particular fish or insect.The paper is not glossy. More matte. But the quality is not bad and I like the texture of it. It doesn’t wrinkle like the cheaper guides I used to own. The artwork and the type are sharp and clean. The print might be a little small if you have vision issues. It also comes with a free e-guide. All in all, the guide does what it promises. If you are on the fence on buying the guide, get it. It was definitely worth the price.

This is a great reference tool to accompany the game Yo-Kai Watch. The part I use the most is the maps. They become the most helpful after you get to the point in the story line where you can warp. There is no overall map that I can find in the book, but there are plenty of sub-maps that show you the map of Downtown Springdale for instance.I have also used the section that gives you details on specific Yo-Kai quite a bit. This is helpful when you are trying to catch a particular Yo-kai because it tells you their favorite food which greatly improves your chances of catching them.The guide also gives you helpful hints for fighting the bosses, which I recommend you level yourself up as much as you can before you try to take any of them on.I refer to this guide on a regular basis when playing this game, I've purchased 3 copies already.

My son was SO thrilled to receive this book to go along with his Yo-Kai watch game. He loves being able to look up all the characters and their stats, and walkthroughs and maps of the levels. The pictures are full color. He keeps this near him always, as he plays Yo-Kai Watch daily, and likes to have this book as a reference for the Yo-Kai.He says it's a very valuable addition to the gameplay. This and YouTube videos, of course. He knows pretty much everything about Yo-Kai Watch at this point. I recommend this highly!

Although you can find plenty of onlne wikis that have information about Yokai Watch, I like the convenience of having that information in a book that I can browse when I am not online. I found this guide to be very helpful. It gives you maps of the various locations, lists of all the yokai and where you can find them and their favorite foods, and a rundown of alll the quests you can undertake and where to locate the people or items needed to finish the quest. I felt it was worth the money to buy it. Also, purchasing the book will give you access to the Prima e-book version of the Yokai Watch guide for people who prefer to get their information online.

This book gives most of what you need to succeed in the game of Yo-Kai Watch. I bought this for my daughter, so I don't play the game myself. Great color, so far not seeing typos. When I bought this, I thought it was a trade paperback size, or a pocket guide (I didn't really read the description), but found it is a large size, comparable to a standard 8.5x11 paper. This makes it a little awkward, I think, especially because it's so floppy. You certainly can't tuck this away with your DS in a little bag on a trip or something. That's just an aesthetic issue, though.

Colorful detailed book, has a complete story walk through of the game including all of the side quests. Maps of the town, locations of objectives and of all the Yo-Kai along with a complete Yo-Kai encyclopedia. This books is a must have for anyone looking to get the most out of the game!

It's awesome! It helps a lot with the game :) I just wish it had a little bit more information about the Yo Kais, but I really like it.

Huge hit with my Yo-kai loving kids. Best guide available without a doubt. I love it because it's kind of a sneaky way to get your kids to read. Lots of information and tons of pictures of the characters.

Item arrived in time. Aside from the very minimal tear and crease at the back cover (see photos), I believe this is an unused book. I’ve seen worse conditions on strategy guides from our local bookstore. The pages are very clean, no pen marks, no creases or tears on the inside pages. I can tell this book hasn’t been opened yet because there’s no crease mark on the front cover (near where the spine is. See photos). I am very happy with the condition of this book and will buy from the same seller again (Geeky Beaver Canada).About the contents of the book, it is detailed and very useful for the game. I find the maps very convenient, and the description of each Yo Kai. I know I can just google stuff, like each Yo Kai’s favorite food etc., but this is very handy for me in battles.

Está muy bien la guía y se puede completar todo siguiéndola pero el error más grave que le veo es que los Yokai no vienen por orden alfabético. Si encuentro a alguno y quiero ver sobre él, tengo que ir página por página hasta encontrarlo en la sección de Yokais. Al menos que se tenga una muy buena memoria, pero no es el caso.

I haven't received my copy of the Yokai Game yet, as it was only released today in Europe (it should be on it's way). So technically I received my guide before the game. My first impressions are that it's a stunning guide, visually. It has a beautiful layout and very colourful artwork that immediately captivates you and entices you to discover more. I only browsed my guide since I don't want to spoil my experience of playing the game for the first time (I prefer trying to figure things out on my own and consulting a guide when I get stuck). But it looks pretty in-depth and comprehensive, which is something I value in any guide. Particularly, since I am new to the Franchise, I like being able to find out how to befriend Yokai and all the little details you can't find anywhere on the net (unlike Pokémon, for example). It provides a wealth of information to newcomers like me of the franchise.For those of you wishing to know what the guide covers:- Game Basics- Story Walkthrough- Subquests- Game Maps- Deeper into the Game (more advanced tips, strategies and information on the various aspects of the game, like bosses, evolution, and so on)- Yokai Medallion (compendium of all the Yokai with their attacks, stats, pictures, bios)- Skills, Inventory, and ShopsThat's really thorough for any game, in my opinion. I only have one minor complaint: that it's paperback, so you need a little caution while handling it. But other than that so far it's flawless. And the best feature is that it comes with a password for a free E-Guide version of the book that you can then download to your phone or tablet!!! How amazing is that? This revolutionary feature means I can consult the guide anywhere, at any time, without having to have it always with me physically (the book). All guides need to have this feature!Overall, so worth the money I spent and I am very happy with this guide! Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to know more about the game or the magical Yokai, in general!

Faisant 224 pages, le guide est scindé en 7 sections :page 1 à 29 : game basics ( contrôles et techniques de base ... )page 30 à 58 : walkthrough ( quête principale )page 59 à 84 : subquests ( quêtes annexes )page 60 à 116 : maps ( cartes )pages 117 à 137 : deeper into the game ( crank-a-kai, bosses caché etc...)page 138 à 197 : yokai medallium ( bestiaire )page 198 à 224 : skills inventory and shops ( inventaire, magasins ... )Le guide est donc bien fourni et très coloré avec beaucoup de photos issus du jeu, c'est un régal de parcourir ses pages et la barrière de la langue n'est pas un obstacle car facilement compréhensible.Le seul reproche que je pourrais lui adresser est la piètre qualité du papier et une police de caractère un poil petite, d'où la note de 4 sur 5.Bref un achat indispensable si vous êtes fan de cet excellent jeu et vive Jibanyan ! .

Bought for my son, who LOVES this book. References it constantly as he's playing the game. A great Christmas surprise.
