Montezuma's Absolute Black, 100% Cocoa, Dark Chocolate With Almonds, Gluten Free & Naturally Vegan, 90g Bar

High cocoa content chocolate i.e. over 85% is thought to have many proposed health benefits. It is said to improve a person's mood and to optimise the gut biome. I don't know for a fact if this is medically true or not, but I thought it was worth giving it a try as I'm a chocoholic who recently suffered a couple of mini-strokes! The taste is somewhat bitter when you first upgrade from eating the regular dark chocolates you can buy in the shops. However, if you persevere and eat just a couple of squares each day, you will soon become accustomed to its unique, strong flavour. Having no added sugar, it is unlikely to spike your blood-sugar levels or interfere with your insulin levels - a great bonus if you are diabetic or pre-diabetic. My first batch of Montezuma chocolate was simply the original, plain, dark variety. However, I have invested in some different flavours this time around including the almond and orange varieties. So far I have enjoyed every one of them! As I said earlier, it is better to have just a couple of small squares at a time to satisfy your chocolate craving. If you have substantially more you may find you get bad headaches and even constipation. The chocolate is rather expensive, but I think the potential health benefits outweigh the cost. I, for one, will not be reverting to the mass produced, sugar-laden bars of chocolate any day soon.

Great tasting chocolate. Not bitter at all for 100%

I tried this more as a health experiment but found that I actually love the taste. It won't be for everyone, but if you love the pure taste of chocolate, give it a go. I've bought almost all of this companies chocolate (mainly for my daughter, but I've tasted them too) and have found them all delicious and excellent quality. I also love the environmentally friendly packaging. Can't recommend them highly enough, a definite five stars!

As a dark chocolate lover who’s super picky, Montezuma’s Absolute Black is the best I’ve found. At 100% cocoa, it’s bold, rich, and satisfying without being too bitter.What really sets it apart is how healthy it is. According to ConsumerLab, it has the highest flavanol content (4 mg/g) and one of the lowest cadmium levels (0.06 mcg/g) among dark chocolates. Plus, as far as I have researched, it’s made with the undutched process keeping all the nutrients intact.It’s pure, natural, and perfect for anyone serious about dark chocolate. Delicious, healthy, and now my go-to!

Having tried other dark chocolates I was intrigued to try the Montezuma's Absolute Black 100% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Almonds.As it is 100% cocoa the chocolate has a strong flavour that is an acquired taste for some. The taste of the chocolate was fine but I was hoping for more of an almond taste to the flavour but with the dark chocolate flavour overpowering the subtle almond flavour then the almonds aren't very noticeable at all.The bar is standard size for chocolates of this kind and is a bit expensive but I'd happily pay it for a treat. It takes me a while to get through a bar though so it's not too bad.This is a nice chocolate but doesn't taste too almond like because of the strength of the chocolate. I'd probably choose a different flavour in the future.

The chocolate is excellent if you have a clean palette which has not been damaged by eating too many sweetened things. As far as I know it is the healthiest chocolate available.However, the stupid management have changed the shape of the bar from the 24 individual pieces as shown in the photo, to 12 individual pieces and the rest is a solid slab of chocolate, similar to cooking chocolate. The product supplied is therefore NOT in accordance with the image shown on Amazon and so this is very misleading.

Good value and do the job..always handy to have a spare

Too bitter. I could hardly eat it but it made a nice ish hot chocolate.
