Women's Spiewak Aviation N3-B Parka with Fur Trim

I originally purchased the Spiewak Snorkel Parka, which I loved, but had to return it because the inside filling was coming out. So I bought the Aviation N3-B Parka instead. Let me tell you, this coat is seriously warm. I've worn it outside with a thin cotton sweatshirt on in 20 degree weather and was not cold. You don't even need to wear a scarf with it because it completely covers your neck when zipped up all the way. It is very well-made. Fit is great - you don't look like a Michelin man (I'm 5'5" 126 lbs and bought a Medium). I love all the pockets. I think it is warmer than the Snorkel parka and seems sturdier. Not quite as slimming as the Snorkel but that is fine because I think this one will hold up better in colder temps. Also, the fleece lining isn't quite as soft as in the Snorkel parka but that is a minor detail. My only complaint is the zipper. The first coat I received had a defective zipper that I couldn't even zip up so I exchanged it. The one I have works but if I'm not careful, it gets stuck. One time I had to take the coat off without unzipping it and use pliers to pull the zipper down. Since then, I have learned to be extra careful when zipping it up. This probably wouldn't be a problem if it didn't have the two-way zipper (which seems unnecessary). Overall, I love the coat though. Definitely a good deal on Amazon since the same coat on the Spiewak site is about 3x the cost.

This coat definitely fits on the smaller side, but I took another reviewer's suggestion and ordered up one size and it fits nicely. I won't be able to wear anything bulky underneath, but don't feel that is a problem since it is uber warm. I love the look and feel of the coat, warm but still produces a wonderful sillouette. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is I ordered the Caviar color which looks charcoal on the screen and have gotten a coat that looks black (and just like the Eclipse color). I've actually returned the coat twice and gotten the same black, not grey color, all THREE times. Usually I'm very impressed with Amazon customer service, I even called them specifically and was guaranteed a grey coat and still don't have the coat I thought I ordered. I don't know if the color is off on the picture, but if so that should be remedied so that customers know what they are ordering. I will try one more time to see if I can get the coat I ordered.... wish me luck!

I really love this coat, but had to order a size up. I own another coat by Spiewak and wear that coat in a small. With this coat a medium was necessary. Also, the zipper on this coat can be extremely difficult to use! I have had times when it has taken me ten minutes to zip this coat up. It makes me so frustrated - especially in the cold! On one of the first wears I even got the zipper stuck so that I needed to work on it with pliers for days before I could wear the coat again. Tried using candle wax on the zipper to see if that improved things. It seemed to have worked for a day or so. Maybe I'll try it again. I'm sort of determined to make it work.

I wanted so badly for this coat to work out, but am returning because of wonky fit issues. I'm 5'7" 145lbs with a narrow waist and athletic limbs. I usually always wear a medium in coats. Usually when I have a fit issue it's when something doesn't fit over my hips. Never had a problem with arms. Not the case here. The circumference of the arms on this coat are TINY. I bought the medium and could only wear it comfortably if I was wearing a thin layer or wasn't wearing any sleeves underneath the coat. This isn't practical, because I expect to be able to fit even just a normal weight sweater underneath a winter coat. I then got the large hoping that size would work. Well, the arms now fit, but the rest of the coat is huge on me. Will be returning the large as well. It's not a flattering coat when oversized.

I have to say that had I realized that this company was using coyote fur I never would have purchased it and I would have returned it.User error I know because it is listed in the description which I did not read thoroughly.I didn't think this cruelty was still legal but I was wrong.

Love, love, love this coat! It is very high quality and the fit is great. I am confident that this coat will keep me very warm in cold winter temps. It honestly feels a bit like a blanket is wrapped around you when it's on, because it is just that warm and comfy.

The other reviewers are spot on. Order a size larger. Even then the thumbholes on the arms are short & the shoulder/chest area can get tight with extra layers underneath. The zipper is difficult to get going too. It's in an awkward placement & the dual zip is completely unnecessary. Who unzips the bottom half of their coat? The pockets are both in slightly awkward, in non-ergonomic locations, but still usable. The hood in quite unwieldy but it ensures you will be fully protected from the elements & can forgo a hat & scarf if you want to travel light. This coat is WARM! The description doesn't list other nice details including fleece-lined pockets, 600/650 fill down, Teflon coating for water resistance, & the back drawstring being located in the pockets for discreetness. My current North Face coat is too short so my butt & thighs are always cold, has no insulation on the neck so the wind cuts right through, & is too loose on the wrist so wind & snow go up my arms. This Spiewak coat solves all these issues & is much warmer. Definitely worth the sale price!

I am so impressed. This coat is really well made and fits perfectly. I was looking for a great quality coat that I could have a while, and I found it. The material is matte color and very durable.
