Great book from my childhood!
This was one of my favorite books when I was in 3rd and 4th grade! I remember during library days I would always make a beeline right to this book! Now that I have small children, I am able to share this great book among many others with them. Even though my eldest is only a young preschooler, she adores this book! Take note however! Those that are into PC Policing- one page in the story talks of the giant sharing his breakfast of "beef and beer". I'm not bothered by it, but there are many that no doubt will be.

A little white out will Giant Juice make
I bought this to use while teaching measurement to my second graders. I took care of the reference to beer with some white-out and placed a sticker over the label on the bottle. The illustrations provided the opportunity to discuss the use of a measuring tape. It has cross curricular uses as previous posts shared. A good book, just be aware of the use of beer in text and illustration if you are sharing with students.

Read it before reading to young children
A good twist but some of the words were not appropriate for my class

The illustrations of Jim carrying these things back to the giant are great and the story is well written and engaging for ...
In this story the Giant has grown old and Jim helps him out by getting him glasses, a wig and false teeth. The illustrations of Jim carrying these things back to the giant are great and the story is well written and engaging for children and adults! We had a copy when my children were young and it was falling apart. I bought another copy for the preschoolers that I teach.

funny, poignant, instructive (in a good way)
Without being didactic, this story teaches kids that it is good to things just because it is a good thing to do and that sometimes helping someone else is a lot of work. Kids like the story although there was some initial confusion about this being Jim and not Jack and how this story was all wrong and how the boy is not supposed to befriend the giant. Nice artwork, not overly fancy, but gets the point across to kids.

Not appropriate for little ones
Was listed as appropriate for ages/grades Preschool-3, however I did not find it appropriate for my PK4 class. When he meets the giant, the first has a beer and shares the beer with Jim, who is supposedly a child/teen. In addition to the alchol references, my 4 year old and I found the repitition in the story boring.

Measuring Fun
This book was a great resource for teaching measurement! It can be used as a cross curricular book when teaching fairy tales or just to teach your measurement unit! So cute!

Book in new condition, delivered quick, but the story is not good
We bought this book for our 7 year old at the request of his teacher, as we are doing "Jack and the Beanstalk" in lockdown school. We were both really disappointed with the story. When we finished the story my son said "Is that it? Is that the end?" Give it a miss if you can, there are far more entertaining children's books around.

Sequel to a great fairy tale
This is a great book that follows in the footsteps of Jack and the beanstalk. Read as a sequel or stand alone it's a lovely story with repetitive language and beautiful pictures. My year 2 class have loved it!

A lovely book for giving another take on a well known fairy tale
This is great when teaching traditional tales to young children as it is another look at a well known tale.

Another slant on the traditional tale.
I love this book! It is a continuation from the original story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The giant is now an old man and has a new adversary in the form of Jim. Lots of humour and children will love it. Great for reception to yr2.
