This item is exactly what you expect it to be. It pops into the back of your Forester, with a slight force. It stays in place. The retractable cover does exactly that. I wouldn’t trust it to hold much weight, if any, while extended (which I think they show in a photo). The worst feature is the piece that attaches to the back seat headrests. It doesn’t stay out very well because the clips are fairly loose. For nearly half the cost of the real part, this purchase was worth it to protect the view into my hatch.

Trying to get this installed in our brand new 2023 Forester was a nightmare - it doesn't bend in any way and its too long to get onto the brackets. Scratched the car, so we stopped & returned it. Looks like we'll be buying the OEM unit even though the price is ridiculous as it doesn't appear anyone makes a good one that installs without damaging your car.

This was easy to install on my 2021 Subaru Forester, but what is the purpose of six clips on the forward flap of the cover?? Only two were needed to clip onto the release buttons for the rear seat back rests. No instructions came with the cargo cover but it was easy to install without them.

First off, the product that I received was definitely used. Already some deep hard scratches along the bar. But I guess that's just cosmetic. Installation is simple and strightforward, but did take force to push in which can easily scratch the surrounding areas of the placeholders. Covers most of the trunk except a chunk close to the lift gate and the handle opening is pretty large so you can see through that. Overall, gets the job done but not without some minor flaws.

The product works as described. I like it. I did struggle installing it. Initially, I put the bar in backwards and I scratched part of the interior trunk try to fit the second end of the bar in the groove, but I really wanted a cargo cover so the scratch doesn’t bother me. If that’s a big deal to you, have a second person there to help you squeeze the sides in the groove. It does take some strength to put the second end in.

I was kind of skeptical ordering this cargo cover for my 2020 Subaru Forester base model with a manual lift gate. I installed it today and it was very easy it appears to be made of quality materials and sturdy. I looked at the Subaru OEM cargo cover and could not bring myself to pay $180.00 for it... so I took a chance with this one on Amazon for half the price...so glad I did!
