A Great Solution
I’ve used rack effects for many years. I switched to pedals but wasn’t happy with them. This pedal works for me because I get digital effects with a small footprint. Easy to use and can be programmed from my iPhone-

Defective? Yikes...
The glass that covers the LCD screens is not set in the frame? Yet glued to the body anyway? Lol I didn't even take the power cable out of the box... Just packed it back up for return unfortunately... I didn't really want a return, I want an exchange. That wasn't an option. Any idea when x5 will be available again? Thanks ...

Changes my whole board
Basically in love with this. I already had five TC stereo through/Tone Print Pedals (HOF, Vortex, MIMIQ, Helix, and Gravy), so I knew I wanted it as soon as I saw it. (NB, though it has I think all of the top-end TC pedals, it does NOT include the Helix, although this is allegedly coming "real soon"). If you like the TC pedals - obviously, all digital to start with - you will love this. It makes all of the Tone Prints available at flick of wrist (easily add new ones). The documentation is minimal to say the least, but there are a couple of good videos easily searchable. Plus, it is really simple! My only knocks are: you lose one of the four knobs as on the pedals; this is basically offset however by the fact that the Tone Prints are available and provide alternate shaping potential; and the the otherwise very well thought out and flexible insert path is mono, and when used, flattens any stereo signal present downstream (this makes sense in a way, but would have been awesome if insert path was also stereo. The compactness and flexibility plus the availability of delay and tremolo are leaning me towards dropping my existing tremolo and delay pedals for both the cleaness and compactness of the single unit and also the mind space of having essentially one interface for all of my modulation-type effects. I have not used the Tone Print editor but great to know it is there. Because I was already pretty hard core with TC I didn't really compare with the other products in this range, but meanwhile, I am pretty pleased.

Some complaints but overall great.
I really do love my plethora. Saves a lot of room on my pedalboard and adds some great functionality with it's built in effects loop and stereo in/out. The latest firmware update addressed most of my complaints. The only major complaint I have now is with the Android app. It literally just doesn't work on my OnePlus 8 or my Samsung tablet. I can get the Bluetooth to connect, but as soon as you click the boards tab it crashes. They did release an app update that supposedly addressed this issue, but I haven't been able to try it out yet. Once I confirm it's fixed I'll edit my review accordingly.I know TC blamed a lot of their software development issues on Covid, but in my opinion they should have waited to release the plethora until it was a little more polished. That being said, it truly is a fantastic unit and it has basically replaced all my digital pedals on my pedalboard. Construction seems pretty robust so we'll see how long it holds up or of it will be repairable if it does break. I know TC doesn't exactly have the best track record in this area, but I was impressed enough with the unit that I went ahead and pulled the trigger. So far I'm not regretting that decision and it seems well worth the money now that the software issues are a little more polished.

Best multi effect pedal that I've ever played through!
I absolutely love the Plethora X5 so far! It has all the features that I wanted & more than I could ask for. It's also very user friendly which is a plus & it acts more like using several stompboxes instead of a multi effect processor to me which I am a big fan of.I am a fan of TC Electronics to begin with & believe that they've created the perfect pedal. The X5 has allowed me to downsize my pedalboard, eliminating several pedals & I've actually moved back to an old, smaller board because I don't use as many pedals as I used to.I won't write a lengthy review describing what all it does. Instead, I would recommend that you go to YouTube & type in "Plethora X5 review by Anderton's" if you're wanting to see what features this machine has. If you've never watched their videos, they are educational, thorough, informative, & entertaining.

Absurdly excellent
I recommend this product for player who already know their stack and would like to take it to the next level by plugging the Plethora using 4-cable method in the FX loop. Obviously, this unit will also serve well in other setups, as all the effects are capabilities are top notch, but i find it most useful in the pre-amp section.

Poor Condition - Pedal Function Good
I don't know what the deal was with the unit I received but when I opened the box, the display screen was popped up in the middle and one of the displays wasn't seated correctly, keeping the screen from sitting flush. I also found some scratching just below the play edit switch and another couple of scratches in other areas of the screen that at least to me indicated that this pedal had been used before. I did test the pedal and it seemed to work as it should but I ended up returning it as I didn't appreciate paying full price if I was to receive something that was used / had minor damage. I don't know if this was Amazon's fault for sending me a previously returned pedal or if there are some quality issues on TC Electronics end.
