Incredibly inexpensive smart bulbs that work great with Echo Plus! Here's how to connect them
I had a few criteria for smart bulbs: compatible with Alexa, reliable connection, dimmable, and a relatively warm color temperature (not daylight!). These score top marks on all of these criteria, plus they were less than $5 each! I bought six. I decided to pair these bulbs with an Echo Plus instead of a stand-alone ZigBee hub. I have previously used Phillips Hue bulbs, which paired quickly and effortlessly to the Echo Plus. These Cree bulbs initially gave me some difficulty. I screwed them into their sockets and turned on the lights. The bulbs all lit up, and I said, "Alexa, discover devices." My Echo Plus did its discovery routine for 45 seconds, and came back with no new devices found. Hmmm. After some trial and error, I discovered that I needed to place my Echo Plus into discovery mode first with the bulbs OFF, and then turn each of the bulbs on one by one. Four of my six bulbs then gave a reassuring blink, and Alexa announced that the bulbs were discovered and successfully paired. The remaining two bulbs still wouldn't pair. Solution? Resetting the settings on these stubborn bulbs to factory defaults. The reset sequence looks like this: Off (2 sec) - On (1 sec) - Off (2 sec) - On (1 sec) - Off (2 sec) - On (1 sec) - Off (2 sec) - On (1 sec). For those of you keeping score at home, that's four on/off cycles. After the fourth cycle, the light will blink twice. Boom - reset. Once I reset the last two bulbs and paired them in the same manner (turn on once discovery is initiated), Alexa found them right away. All of the bulbs now work great! They are dimmable and easily controllable by voice, routines, and the Alexa App. Sure, these aren't as feature rich as the Phillips Hue lights (which I also love), but they are such a great value, that I can finally convert all of my lights to smart lights.

2 of 3 bad so far
I bought these to add to my existing Zigbee control network and I have used Cree Connected bulbs before. Results so far: - First bulb falls off the network and when connected does not ever fully turn off. - Second bulb has better luck on the network bit also does not fully extinguish. - Third bulb seems to work just fine. I already have a number of Zigbee devices in the house and two Echo devices with integrated hubs, everything else works just fine, including the older Cree bulbs. Unfortunately I did not use these right away so no return is possible or they would be boxed up and out of the house aready.

Works as expected
I have had my home running a smartthings gen2 hub and zwave lock for a few months, but when I ordered a google home, I wanted to have more devices to control with it. I have toyed with buying z-wave or zigbee switches, but for the price and ease of use, it is hard to beat these smart bulbs to get your home automated. The process to join them is very fast (make sure you set your hub to look for them before turning the power on to the bulb) and has worked very reliably since setting it up. The color is nice and looks much better than the warm white CFLs that I have been slowly phasing out. Heat seems to be minimal on these in spite of being all plastic (no metal heatsink base or cooling fins like my rosewill or insignia LED bulbs). The dimming range is as good as expected, but even the lowest setting will illuminate an area well (not as dim as a nightight). As for the google home portion, I am able to call them out by their names/rooms without any problems. I can name percentages to dim them at, or I can simply ask for them to be turned on or off. I can also say "turn the lights off" and google home/smartthings will turn all of the bulbs off. This goes more into the google home-smartthings integration, but it might be relevant to someone looking at the same setup as I have. The only thing left to see is how long these hold up and if zigbee is supported for that amount of time.

Excellent, full dimming range, no noise, works with Wink hub.
Absolutely perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. With one major Con (see below). I set up a basic home automation system using a Wink hub, Sensi thermostat, wifi wall switch, and three of these bulbs (to be used in three different fixtures). Using the Wink phone app, you "Add a Product" to the wink hub, select Lights, then "Cree light" from the list. Then the app prompts you to turn on the light, which activates pairing mode. Then, about 30 seconds or so later, you get a Success notice and you get to name your new light. (If it fails to hook up, and one of mine did, cancel the setup (after failure notice) and go to the main Wink menu. There will be a light there that was not there before. Long click on it to name it and you are done. If you are not familiar with this type of bulb, it is a plastic globe, with an LED array in the middle and the wifi components in the base. It is very light weight, the same size as a traditional bulb, and is mostly plastic. These are better than the spiraled compact fluorescent bulbs I am replacing and in a completely different league than old hot, short lived incandescent bulbs. Pros: *Soft white color is slightly yellow and an appropriately warm indoor color. Color is traditional and what you expect from a light bulb. *Ease of setup *NO NOISE AT ALL! These lights do not hum, buzz, whine, rattle, or otherwise at any light level. At least not in my installation. *Full range of dimming (using Wink hub and Wink phone app), fully proportional, from very high to very, very low, to off. ECHO: *Works with Echo (and upcoming Google Home hub). (I will post an update after I get my Echo and pair them.) UPDATE: I got my Echo. Works G R E A T!!!!. However, the "Detect Devices" (from within "Smart Home) was a problem. All the Echo instructions, even online, tell you to go to "Settings/Home Automation" or something, and then select "devices" or something. Totally wrong!! You have to go to "Skills" and search for the brand name of your hub. "Wink" in my case. And you will find a "skill" (app) that you have to install. Once you install the "skill" (app) for your home automation hub, THEN you run "detect devices" (from within the "Smart Home" option in the "Settings") and Alexa will find your devices. There is no setup whatsoever with Alexa/Echo. Detect devices, then start talking to Alexa. Nothing in-between for me. My home hub (Wink) was already running before powering up Alexa/Echo. Once I installed the skill, Alexa found all of my devices and began working. I used the Alexa app to create a couple of groups (ie: "evening lights," and "all the lights") and nothing more needed to be done. "Alexa, turn on Evening Lights at 40%" and my sitting area is perfectly lighted. "Alexa, turn on all the lights" as I come in the front door adn all the lights in the home come on. Great. Totally great. Amazing. I can't say enough good things. Cons: *If I manually turn off a fixture switch (lamp) and then turn it back on, it comes on at full brightness. This is unwelcome. There should be some sort of memory chip in the bulb that reboots at previous light settings. It should default to where it was, not full brightness. This almost defeats the purpose of having the bulb attached to an app and having a dimming function. (This is not the case when using the App to control the lights. You simply tap the light icon and it goes off, tap again and it comes on at previous light setting. Slide left and right on the icon to adjust dim settings. But if you turn off the fixture itself, and turn back on, you get full bright.)

Hasta ahora todo muy bien. Conectarlo a smart things tardo un poco pero hasta ahora excelente.

I installed this along with a Smart Things multi purpose sensor in our bedroom closet, so that the lights come on and off when you open/close the closet door. It works very well, and integration with Smart Things was very easy.

Parece muy útil, sin embargo no especifican que necesitas un hub (comprado por separado) para poder usarlos. Siendo el costo de estos algo elevado.

Very misleading and way over priced item. “Cree” led lights is a type of light that doesn’t attract bugs. This company has called themselves “Cree” to basically fool buyers into purchasing just a regular led bulb at an inflated price that does not perform like the above mentioned. Super annoyed and feel ripped off.
