Important for Policy Makers
I approached this very important book from the perspective of policy and policy making (my professional background). I found many of the authors examples to be extraordinarily eye opening. This is the kind of book I wish every policy maker in state and local capitols, as well as in Congress, read before legislating education policy. A well done, compassionately—but rationally—written blueprint for making education better based on the lessons we can learn from families and communities.

An essential resource
This professional learning book provides great insight on how to foster family involvement and build relationships in Dual Language Bilingual Education settings. The authors present various perspectives through scenarios, strategies, and ideas to help educators understand how to engage families. This is a great resource to have with the rise multilingual learners in schools and as dual language programs expand.
