Roanoke Valley (Then and Now) Paperback – Illustrated, January 3, 2011

This is an awesome but to see how Roanoke use to look.

My Dad was born in the Roanoke Valley and he loved this book.

I'm old fashioned in that I also prefer what it looked like then as compared to now with the stupid malls and "progress" tearing up all the beautiful farm land. The history book series including this one tells us some wonderful pieces of information.

This book is wonderful for the "novice Roanoker"....gives so much information...I read for 2 whole afternoons...delighted with my purchase!! Saw many pictures of places I remember from being a "kid"!

Love this walk down memory lane in my hometown. Beautiful old and new pictures. It's interesting to see and read.

I love looking through the old photos and reading descriptions. Giving the locations and addresses of current buildings makes it easy to visualize how things looked in the early days of Roanoke area.But, some of the beautiful older buildings that were razed in the name of progress is shameful. They were such beautiful structures.
