Independent Reading Level at Last
I am a Spanish Immersion teacher for third grade. This product is PERFECT for homework and independent reading. The passages are short but not overly simple. The topics are generally non fiction but there is a little of both. I always find something that ties in with our science and social studies curriculum. I can send home the English version too in order to help families understand the reading. Great for second language learners too!

Definitely for elementary students
I'm tutoring a college student from South America. I had hoped to use some of these exercises with this true beginner, but they are definitely designed for younger (elementary age) students.

Good resource for the bilingual classroom.
This is a bilingual book with lots of stories written in both Spanish and English. It is intended to develop several reading skills and contains exercises like Venn Diagrams for compare and contrast, multiple choice questions for comprehension, sequencing, main idea identification, characterization, etc. It can be used in classrooms where some students feel more comfortable with Spanish and others in English, and still you can have them all doing the same activity. The reason why I don't give it a five-star rating, is because the stories are too short and in my opinion lower than third grade level. For the regular school day of work, I'd rather use the collection of "Read and Understand" bilingual books from Evan-Moor. However, this book is a good resource to be used as a bell ringer or for intervention/remediation for the lower level readers.
