Cordless, Motorized Knife Blade Sharpener, reg, Green

I bought one of these years ago. So long ago I can't remember what store we purchased it at,but the sharpening stone finally wore out on one side,so I immediately went to Amazon for a replacement. I still use the old one in my garage to sharpen my regular tip screw drivers so even after death it,s still useful.it was a little more money that I remembered but what isn't.

If I could give this product a minus star I would. It is a total piece of trash. The abrasive wheel was off the motor shaft when it arrived. This gave me the opportunity to see that the shaft was perfectly round and smooth and relying totally on friction to hold the wheel to the shaft... a non starter for anything but the lightest work. After I replaced the wheel and put the blade guide on the unit, the wheel would not turn. The chip catcher tray is totally useless since all the shavings are caught by the blade guide sleeve. Once the tray was removed, it was all but impossible to put it back in place. Given the strength of the motor, even if the unit were working perfectly, the best it could do is slowly dress a knife blade. I believe that Amazon is hurting its reputation by being the agent for such a useless product.

I am a sucker for the 'As Seen on TV' products/gadgets and I have been burned many times because they hardly ever live up to expectations. I bought this after seeing the commercial repeatedly and I am VERY impressed with it! If you have a few knives in the back of your kitchen drawers (like I DID), you need this 'Swifty Sharp'!! Not only does it sharpen your knives, both serrated and straight blade, but it sharpens screwdrivers, razor blades, scissors, screwdrivers....it's wonderful! One other thing I love about this is it fits in a drawer nice and neat :)I am going to order a couple for Christmas gifts as well. This is one 'As Seen on TV' product that lives up to my expectations.

I bought it used for $6.26. And it works okay. Unlike some reviewers, I find that the battery powered motor is strong enough to sharpen most knives. Perhaps this is a quality control issue. I own a good quality manual knife sharpener. I would have to spend a long time trying to sharpen my knives using the manual sharpener. With this motorized sharpener within seconds, it would do its work. I can see it worked because there would be metal shavings collected in the catch tray. I agree with other reviewers, that there are misalignment problems. One viewer suggested adding a washer to help align it. Adding a washer extends the honing stone away from the motor a little bit further. Taking it apart to put the washer in is easy, but finding the right size washer is not. I found a right sized washer and put it in, but the washer was a little too thick. So it is still misaligned. What I have to do when I am using it, is to angle the blade just right within the blade guide (there is enough wiggle room to do that). And this works for me. I would prefer using a motorized sharpener over a manual one any day. It does make my knives sharpener than doing it with a manual sharpener. If you can find it for less than $10, I would buy it. But I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it.

It was not as good an item as I had hoped. It is battery powered, and I had to continually hold the 'power' button; which made it quite unsafe to for me to operate. When I tried to sharpen certain scissors, actually, any scissors, I was unable to successfully sharpen the entire blade. I was unable to safely sharpen any knife bigger than a small pocket knife.Almost a total waste of money. Almost.

As others have stated "DO NOT BUY!!!" It is cheaply made, and it does not work. Made knives worst, and a pair of scissors. It gives a bad name to "As seen on TV" stuff. Save your money and buy a good product.

I've tried this on a couple pairs of basic scissors but definitely not for sharpening anything expensive or something you want fine. It does put an edge back on but can't be used for accuracy. Great for taking a knick out of a blade though!

My Swifty Sharp arrived today and I couldn't wait to try it. I have never been able to figure out how to sharpen a blade; I always make my husband do it. But not today!!! I pulled every knife out of my drawer and sharpened them ALL. This thing is amazing!
