Q: how do i put on the tsuba (guard)

Its gonna require abit of effort because of its tight fit but its worth it imo Make sure that the tsuba's oval shaped hole matches the shape of the sword then slide it to the bottom. After that, using a mallet or edge of a table, evenly hammer the tsuba into place. (Do be careful of using too much force though, it may break the tsuba) after that, it should stay on there tightly Note: make sure you hammer it in evenly or else, you may end up whith a crooked angle which may crack the tsuba if you try to correct it
