The Mistake (Off-Campus, 2)

It was okay.
Starting out slow, I had a hard time getting into this story. Longing for your best friend's girlfriend is depressing at best, and sucks big time every other day. However, the idea of two brothers dedicating their own lives to keeping their alcoholic father's business for him was a little harder to swallow, especially given Logan's talent on the ice. Neither his brother or father really supported HIM. He was only a young kid when he began taking on way more than he ought to have, and the older men in his life didn't get that. Thank the Lord for his coach!Anyway, once Logan realizes Grace's worth and beauty, his life gets better, or, at least, his attitude about his life improves. Their story isn't too different from other college kids who become a couple, but the writer has done a solid job of portraying the agony, pain, and suffering Logan lived with. Despite being pleasing to the eye, he's actually a good man who comes through for Grace, though I think observing Garrett and Hannah did him the most good since it taught him about being half of a couple. So, three stars for a.solid job.

A Unicorn!
Great story, well written!First, I wanted to say THANK YOU to the author for writing a story where the h is a strong character. She is written beautifully as a strong character not a bi*chy one. That is so rare in romance that it's like finding a unicorn! There are so many things that this story has that are hard to find in romance novel: strong females characters, a H willing to lay it out for the h, flawed yet likable characters (even the OW). Not to say that there isn't a lot of drama caused by a H, it is a romance book after all! The difference is this book had a H willing to work for the h (A LOT) which made me believe in the HEA.***SPOILER*** The only thing that bothered me about the book was the conversation about the OW. Our H believes himself in love with the OW early in the story which causes THE MISTAKE that the title references. This OW is actually the H's best friend's girlfriend. When our H gets his head together, works his tail off to get the h to give him another shot, the h then meets the OW. By this time, we have established that our h has a little bit of a jealous streak, which I love. However, the h in her awesomeness is not rude or critical of the OW she just points out the elephant in the room in a very complimentary yet vulnerable way. I could not love the h more at this point in the book. Her maturity and kind nature was solidified by the way she handled the situation. My only issue with it was that the conversation was so fast. The H does says the perfect thing....I just don't feel it was enough. Let's be realistic, no woman alive would feel secure being around the BFF girlfriend under the circumstances. I think that part of the plot could have been developed a little more. I needed a little more reassurance for the h, more wooing words from the H to smooth it all out especially because the h was being cool about the situation. That really was my only area of growth for this book and it was minimal. This book will definitely be a reread for me.

5 The Best Mistake Crowns
This is book two in the Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy. I blew through The Deal in one day and immediately jumped into The Mistake. I cannot get enough of Elle’s writing, her wonderful mixture of humor and angst is utter perfection. Logan and Grace are the epitome of Opposites Attract and I could not get enough. I highly recommend reading The Deal first, it’s where you meet everyone and start getting a feel for them. It’s also where I fell for Logan and then this book cemented my love for this man."Tucker is noticeably quite during the drive to Omega Phi. He might also be frowning, but it’s hard to tell considering someone shaved off all of Hugh Jackman’s body hair and pasted it on Tuck’s face."Logan is the embodiment of party animal/player. He can have any girl he wants and he does so on any and all occasions. When he first meet’s Grace it’s after a bathroom hookup that he doesn’t really remember. But as the story goes on and he and Grace have their Meet-Cute you learn so much more about this party boy. You delve into what really makes John Logan tick and why he does the things that he does. His background is hard and one many have to go through, it ultimately makes your heart ache for this man who doesn’t think he has any options left and that his future is already set and bleak. Despite all that or maybe because of it I absolutely adore this man, the things that he does to win Grace are enough to make even the most pessimistic swoon. John Logan no doubt take a piece of your heart with him."I’ve given hand jobs before, plus a few blow jobs that I know were a huge success because…. Well, semen and all that. But I don’t have enough experience to consider myself an expert pe***-wrangler or anything."I freaking Love Grace, when we first meet her she so sweet and innocent with a touch of OCD and the terribly funny habit of babbling. But that’s what endeared me to her. She was not a Puck Bunny like these boys are used to. She’s smart and has her own mind and knows what she wants. When stuff goes down she makes John work for her and I loved that to no end. He had to know that she wasn’t a pushover and wouldn’t take that kind of behavior anymore. This girl’s sassy sweetness is enough to give you a toothache, and I absolutely loved how they complemented each other."The idea of Grace with another guy is unacceptable. I won’t go as far as to say she’s mine, but….well, she’s mine. She’s mine to hold and mine to kiss and mine to laugh with. Yup, mine."Elle has scored with this series that is fraught with humor, heat, angst and all the swooning moments you could possibly handle. Oh, and I am all about the Harry Potter references sign me up for all of it!!! I only just found this author and I cannot get enough of her writing style and storylines that hold you captive from the start. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites and I can’t wait to see where she takes us with Dean!!!

Not buying this book would be a mistake
Elle Kennedy has definitely made it into the top ten of my favourite modern authors. She has an amazing ability to write intelligent, sexy, enthralling books. I'm not into ice hockey but I'm into Ms Kennedy's books and this series is definitely not letting the side down. This time we hear about D-man John Logan's journey to love. After crushing on his BFF'S girlfriend, Logan decides that the best way to work on his disappointment in love by shagging half the females on campus and partying like the apocalypse is coming. In his endless pursuit of distraction, he accidentally knocks on Grace's door. This twist of fate leads to an unsatisfying hook-up, which Logan is determined to fix. However, Logan decides that he can't use Grace as another distraction and pushes her away. But what if Grace is the balm to soothe his soul. There's more to Logan than meets the eye but will he give Grace the chance to find out?Once again Ms Kennedy hits you with a sucker-punch and goes deeper than you would expect. She weaves a tale of a man trying to make it through college knowing that he'll never be able to follow his dreams because he has to support his family. The struggle he has trying to keep it all together, wearing a smile on his face when all he wants to do is break down when he gets a glimpse at his future. A heartbreaking, sweet and then joyful tale. Loved, loved this book. Enjoy peeps 😉

I am hooked and already loving this series!
Instantly, from the first few lines I was already hooked with The Mistake and in love with John Logan. Everything about this book - both Grace and Logan, the originality to the storyline, the humour, the romance - all of it I absolutely loved. There were no dull moments or moments where I couldn't connect with the story; it was all perfect to me, and from start to finish I was consumed with this story. It's only the second book of the Off-Campus series, but it's already my favourite, and The Mistake is easily one of my favourite reads of this year so far.Logan is in love with his best friend's girlfriend. It's a tough situation for him, seeing her everywhere and always in his house and not being able to have her. But when he meets Grace, a freshman at Briar University, it all changes for him. Turns out he's not in love with Hannah, but he does want something she has, and that's a relationship... with anyone... with Grace. But he only realises that too late, because by the time he realises that he does like Grace and not Hannah, and he wants a relationship with Grace, it's too late. He's already humiliated and pushed Grace away, and she's determined to now stay as far away from Logan as possible. This book was hilarious. It was cute. It was romantic. It had me hooked from start to finish and I loved every single second of reading it. There were times where I wanted to shake Logan for being the idiot he was and doing the mistake he did in letting Grace go, but then I wanted to high five him, because now that the summer holidays are over and it's time to go back to school, his feelings for Grace have not changed, and he's ready to get her back. And there were many times where I wanted to high five and cheer Grace on when she didn't give in to Logan right away when he tried to get her back. She made him work for her forgiveness and for a second chance, and the things she made him do... They were amazing and had me laughing so hard; heck, a lot of scenes in this book had me laughing out loud. I loved it, and I'm now super excited to get started on reading the next book in this series.

A nice easy read!!
This second book in the series of (Off Campus) revolves around Logan who is best friends with Garrett from book one, and his girl Grace. As I have said previously college romances are not my thing as I am one of the more mature readers, but having said that these books are well written, the scenarios believable, the characters are likeable, and there is good humour. The characters from book one pop up and are involved in the story which adds to the enjoyment, and if you like ice hockey this is for you.I recommend this book and in fact the whole series. The epilogue was short and sweet, and I prefer more detail, but I guess all the characters will feature again in the next book about Dean. I have signed up for the newsletter to make sure I don't miss it.
