The road to becoming Duchess Goldblatt is paved with some sorrow and some laughs.
A great book. It is a memoir of a woman in the publishing field who experiences devastating personal losses that effect her personality. She works at repairing herself to her original self by creating a fictional character, Duchess Goldblatt, from the. Best part of herself and plants that character in social media where she is watered and nourished by followers who come to love her humor and her positive outlook. It is a narrative of humor and healing. Helps if your humor has a quirk or two, but thoroughly enjoyable reading experience.

Quirky and thought provoking
The tale unfolds indirectly, and the author's voice is increasingly evident. Epigraphs punctuate the text, prompting further thought or, sometimes, just a smile.

Unique type of book
This book , or at least the narrator, seemed rather off-putting at first, but was well written enough to make me decide to "just read a bit more". Soon enough I was hooked - amused and surprised - sometimes smiled hugely at certain views or ways of expressing something. The clever turns of expression that could have been too "precious" or pretentious stopped short of that. This was a reading only a chapter or two every day - a treat for myself.I was sorry when it ended.

Do yourself a favor and read this one!
What a fun read! In a nutshell, Becoming Duchess Goldblatt is a memoir, narrated by an anonymous author who created the character of Duchess Goldblatt and her Twitter account. The author was struggling with loneliness and grief and the Duchess was a bright light. She was also kind of snarky and I laughed out loud multiple times while reading this book. Her tweets are interspersed throughout the narrative and they are hilarious. Duchess brought many fans into her life including Lyle Lovett. That was kind of a fun twist for me because I'm a long-time fan of his as well. Do yourself a favor and read this one!

I didn’t know the Duchess but wish I had
There is a lot of heart and love to be shared from this book. I knew next to nothing about the book, and had no idea who or what The Duchess was. And there lies the problem. This is more of a book written about a family member. It explains them in places you weren’t around for, gives you maybe more context, but you have some common knowledge of their story to begin with. That would give this 3 dimensions instead of the 2 and half I was forced to read in.

Long live Duchess Goldblatt!
I’m not sure how I discovered Duchess Goldblatt, but I am most certainly glad I did. She is absolutely delightful on Twitter, and if she had just presented a book of tweets I probably would’ve been perfectly happy. You don’t have to follow Duchess Goldblatt on Twitter to enjoy this book, but if you don’t follow her you really don’t know what you’re missing. We have been given a book that is truly a gift. This is a story of a woman who is struggling as many women do. This is a sweet and bittersweet book that had me tears up often. Even though I often had tears in my eyes this book is a delight. I’m sure I laughed more often than I cried. The fact that she is a huge of Lyle Lovett does not hurt. Honestly every time he’s mentioned it gave me a spark of joy in my very soul. I stretched out this book as long as I possibly could because I just didn’t want to have to put it down. I solved this problem in part by getting the audiobook so that I could listen to Lyle Lovett read his portion of the conversation.I think I would dearly love to meet Anonymous one day so she could give me a big hug and call me honey bunch. I would even settle for rascal.

Right Time Right Message
This is a difficult book to review. Part important timely message, part stream of consciousness. Some of the things Duchess says in her writing are things I have felt but had no words for. The writing touched me. It's an important book for everyone and yet, it wouldn't be appreciated by everyone.

Magic
This book is magic and poetry. Duchess Goldblatt’s small poetical tweets are perfect for weary souls. The author, Anonymous, struggles with cumulative losses and heartbreaks in her life and feels as though she has nothing to offer friends or anyone else after an unexpected and crushing divorce. She creates Duchess Goldblatt, in part to perhaps reconnect with humans safely and anonymously, or—for those of us who fiercely love words and literature—to have a safe place to say things we otherwise might not. Words have power, both to crush and to heal. This memoir is a joy to read, and reminds any of us who have experienced loss of any kind that we are not really alone. We just need to look for our tribe. Keep an eye out for ruffs, that’s usually the first clue we are DG’s faithful followers. Thank you, your grace.

An extraordinary book
This incredible, witty, sophisticated Memoir is so unusual that I am al a loss of superlatives to describe how engaged, involved and deeply moving was my reading experience. What a clever idea, to give Duchess Goldblatt to us and thus elevate the status of Twitter as well by showing that it is possible to share the heart through social media.Bravo, Anonymous!

Strange
Like the title says it’s a bit strange and takes a while to get into it, and it’s nice to see Lyle Lovett’s name mentioned, if your a fan of his,
