Very well written concise history of US Navy.

Like all his previous books, Craig Symonds The U.S. Navy: A Concise History is written in clear succinct prose that is interesting and informative to read. A good introduction for the general reader and a fine summary for those who have read deeply in US Navy history. Highly recommended, you can’t go wrong with any of Craig’s books!

Very informative. Will come in handy for recruits and those interested in a history of the worlds greatest Navy.

My father in law is a Navy veteran. We got this book for him as a gift and he loved it!!He started reading it right away and was eager to show us pictures of things he remembered/encountered!

When Symonds titled this book with the word "concise", he really meant it. Calling it a book is really not accurate; it's more like a booklet. It's not too bad up to WW2, when it starts becoming more of an essay of everything he admires and loves about the modern US Navy. In the first half of the book he is a historian and states facts, and in the second half he describes the US Navy in such glowing and awesome terms that it was hard to read it to the finish. Since the 'book' is so short I did make it to the end. I think that for what you get it is very over-priced. I liked his other books and should have looked at this one more carefully before I bought it.

Being a Navy Veteran I knew alot of Navy history but suffice to say after reading this book, I have a lot to learn.I just started researching again and very glad I highlighted stuff I want to see.I got the kindle edition knowing I can highlight and not ruin a physical book. This is not to say I may order it sometime in the future but I will always remember what I learned.

Nice book. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter's boyfriend who is about to enlist in the Navy. I know he is interested in history so I thought this would be a nice purchase for him. Good sized book, less pictures than I thought but that's okay...if he is old enough to enlist, he is big enough to read a big boy book without pictures! Lol! I would lurchase from this seller again.
