The top feels a little flimsy, but seems like it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s hard to tell by the photo, but it does have legs.

My son is notorious for taking food and soda to his room. and with it comes a lot of spills. This tray came fast and looks sturdy and the legs will be a great help, too.He used it right away. He says he loves it and that it didn't spill, even when he moved around on his bed. I will tell friends. I am going to give one to each of my parents for Christmas.Thumbs UP!!
