Uninex PS51UPC Indoor Outdoor AC Power Outlet with Wireless Remote Control Switch, UL Listed

Just got this little gizmo and it's just what I needed. It works great. It is plugged into the wall behind a chest of drawers and my bedroom lamp is plugged into it. The lamp is across the room from the bed. This will make it really easy to turn out the lights when I'm already in bed at night. Don't know how well it will hold up over time, but it works like a charm right out of the package. And it came with a battery already included - so that made it really nice.

This is a decent remote, but after just under 3 years of ownership, it started to do something very strange (I'll get to that later).I used this to control a lamp from about 20 feet away. For that purpose, it worked very well. Unless it was time to change the battery, rarely did I ever have to press the button more than once. The transmitter is about the size of a car alarm remote. The buttons have a pleasant "click" to them, unlike some other remotes that feel squishy.For its functionality and convenience, I would give it five stars. However, I have to knock off a couple of stars because of a strange phenomenon that occurred, indicating a potential safety issue. After just under 3 years of ownership, the receiver started to "sweat" a strange substance, which dried into a crusty residue (see photos). This item was kept indoors 100% of the time, in a home with no children and no pets, so it's not like anybody or anything touched it during those 3 years. Fearing that this was indication of impending internal malfunction, I stopped using it and threw it away, as I didn't want it to become a potential fire hazard.I have since replaced this unit with another brand. The Uninex unit worked well, but that "sweating" issue has left me wary about its long term safety.

I'm not sure if the remote I purchased several years ago is the same brand or just a similar remote switch, but I have used one of these switches for my family room light for several years, and it has worked wonderfully. I decided to buy two more for my bedroom and my son's bedroom. One room is upstairs and one is downstairs. The good news is, the remotes have a long range. The bad news, both remotes are on the same frequency. What a surprise in the middle of the night when my bedroom light came on because my son had turned his light on! We swapped the family room remote switch with my son's and everything is fine. Alas, I wanted another outlet switch for another room, but can't seem to find ones with multiple frequency options.

Ok...I'm happy to write a good review for this product. It's great. Very well made & not flimsy like the others and a really good feature is that the plug is on a short cable so you don't have a hassle trying to plug it into a strip or outlet. I really wish I could get a few more of the key chain transmitters...that's what I'm looking for. So glad I found this because although the others I had (Handy Switch) worked pretty good for a while, I had to throw them away because of the recall/fire hazard thing. Now if only I can find extra transmitters.....UPDATE........The remote went through a hot water wash (accidentally left it in my pocket) Let it dry out over night, put in a new battery..AND IT STILL WORKS!!!

I have one of these already in use and it's great. My small grandson can turn on a light before entering the room and that's very helpful. Unfortunately, the second one was meant for his room, and that lamp is one that has the "touch on" system and this product doesn't work with that type. Too bad.

Works great, but my wife but same one for have the price Home Depot.

This thing is awesome! I have it hooked up to my living room lamps in the apartment, it works anywhere you go, even outside! I haven't seen how far away I can go yet but it lets me go as far as my car and... well... how much further do I need to go? Sometimes might have to press the button twice for it to "hear" me but that's not a big deal... I just click again! It's not that hard!

I use this remote to activate a vacuum system on my table saw. Worked great, but now after 8 months the remote died. When you press the off button, the indicator light will flash, but when you press the on button, nothing. The switch inside the remote unit failed. Not sure if I can just get a remote or have to order another complete unit.
