A very good follow-up to the first volume
A very good follow-up to the first volume. Lists more Saints with a brief but succinct mini biography of each. A great beginning to a more complete research of each Saint ( St. or Ste. to separate the female Saints) one would be interested in. This is a fairly comprehensive list of the commonly and obscurely known in the pantheon of the Catholic church's revered martyrs and icons. The brief history provided gives information on what and how their sacrifices and lives led to eventual sainthood. And why, how and who led to the sanctification process.

Nice to have alongside the 1st Edition Lives of the Saints
I have the 1st book of the Lives of the Saints but didn't know there was a second! I love this book! Each day has a Saint and they added more in this edition. Very interesting to see the how the Saints lived and what times. Some stories are sad too but it is fascinating to have this alongside the 1st book. I love the books!

A good thing
Just as good as the first one. I did not like how the saints felt a bit random unlike the first book that had the saints listed by their feast days. Still helpful to stay on one's faith-life track nonetheless. One saint for every day of the year, and a few feast day pages as well.I still prefer the first copy over this one; creature of habit.

I wanted to be able to identify with the saints ...
I wanted to be able to identify with the saints and their lives. However, example: April 29th is the feast day for St. Catherine of Siena. The above mentioned book identifies St. Peter of Verona with April 29th. I can appreciated the research that went into this book, but I have looked forward to the lives of present day saints, too.

Lovely Book
Lovely little book of the Saints for the price you pay. For Ten dollars you get what you paid for it but, I would not recommend the book for children though, because the paper probably would not hold up under the abuse of a twelve year old or younger, and the illustrations are plain black and white and very small. I am happy with it but am not going to give it to my niece.

Beautiful!
Beautiful leather bound books with great short daily readings of the daily Saint, plus a short prayer daily, some also have illustrations. Great way to educated myself and the kids with one only page a day. So beautiful that I bought a set for myself, then for a friend. Would definitely buy again.

Well pleased
Good potted histories of the saints for each day of the year. Sometimes two saints on one day. Also has a section for reflection and one for prayer for each saint. This book has enhanced my religious outlook and application. After reading for some months since I purchased I will say this book speaks to the heart and provides excellent life guidance. Wonderful.

"Lives of the Saints" - an inspiring book for traditional Catholics
I ordered this book for a friend who doesn't have a computer, but who was delighted to find that Amazon can deliver almost any book still in print (and some that are not). She is very happy to have a copy of "Lives of the Saints". She finds inspiration in the descriptions of the lives of these holy persons, whose trials and tribulations were overcome through their faith and works. In keeping with an old Catholic tradition, she reads the text on one or two of the saints each day. They provide her with a supplement to the biblical readings that are part of daily mass.My own understanding of the contents of the book is that it is truly suitable for Catholic faithful whose religous beliefs and practice are traditional rather than reformed.
