The John Rutter Piano Album: 8 of his best-loved choral pieces in new transcriptions for solo piano

These beautiful choral pieces have been arranged by the composer so effectively - the notes fall easily under your fingers and all the harmonic beauty and strong melodies work well for piano. I think the pieces are roughly equivalent to about grade 4 or 5, with some pieces being a little harder, maybe grade 6.Rutter's music has a certain spiritual feel and also a feel of film music themes in some. The harmonies are easily accessible, with several unexpected and original harmonic chord changes within most of the pieces that adds an extra element of specialness. Some of the pieces have a few bars of spine tingling moments.When I play the pieces I know best, I can hear the choral arrangements in my head and am aware of the extra something that voices bring making Rutter's music even more special - their timbre, the ability of voices to crescendo on a note, the church and cathedral acoustics and the words.

This is a beautiful book. I am 64yrs and passed Grade 4 many, many years ago and find these arrangements just about enough for my level. I am going to have many enjoyable hours playing these wonderful pieces of music.

I am not into choral pieces normally but these arrangements are wonderful .

Bought for my brother who plays the piano to grade 8 standard. He has enjoyed the music in all its complexity!
