Retired IT Admin, Hardware Engineer, Dell Certified Tech and STILL GOOFED!Dell said it would work. I installed it in my Dell m6800, put it back together and it would NOT start. No power. (Dell does that purposely to avoid damage to anything else)In and out 4x's. It would start then ONCE it didn't without the drive installed. Humm???The battery was not locked in. Won't start. DUH!ENSURE you have the most recent BIOS. F2 to see if its there. It will be. Boot up, disk management and Initialize, then format the new drive. Rock n Roll with your screaming fast dive. It works perfectly.

Though I just installed it into my Precision M4700 that I bought refurbished here on Amazon in March 2016, I feel it is a solid upgrade. Time will tell. I’ll do an update in six then twelve months. I’ve had no compatibility issues thus far for those concerned about 1TB and SATA 3. It works fine. It’ll just throttle down to SATA 2 speeds. I didn’t have to change any BIOS settings either. Your machine may differ anyway. This is considered a hard drive by the machine, so you’ll have to go through the Disk Manager in Windows to format and/or partition it before you use it.Update 10/08/21:It has become one of the best upgrades to my M4700. I use it as a secondary data drive. This along with another SSD that I use as a primary hard drive have made my laptop good as new. It boots to Windows 10 in about 10-15 seconds from a cold start.
