Simply A MUST READ
So far I’ve read Pound the stone, Chop Wood Carry Water and yes Win in the dark. All three a must read in my opinion. I’ve never had a mentor like Marco but I was able to relate to this story in so many ways, because at one point or another I was that kid who was ready to walk away, or say “it simply not worth it”, but in the end pushed through it and was able to finish what I started. Endless wisdom from a grandfather who’ve been there also. Michael Phelps commercial by Under Armor “it’s what you do in the dark that puts you in the light” relates to this book. If you know a kid that needs a bit of pick me up, or needs to hear the same message but from some else, this is your book!!!

Highest recommendation!
Joshua and Lucas hit a home run with Win in the Dark! We are using this book and the lessons with our coaching now, as we prepare for the fall seasons. We will also use Win in the Dark with our student leadership group in the fall. I have 11 pages of single-spaced typed notes from the book and value the lessons from nearly each and every page. The lessons Niko learns throughout his journey are so valuable and be used across sports, genders, the classroom and in life. A few of my favorites include:- The best teams that I’ve coached didn’t win because they hated the opponent across from them. They won because they loved the person next to them.- Conviction comes from having been forged in the fire.- Are you willing to build a black belt skill set while keeping a white belt mindset?- Go to bed smarter than when you woke up ~ Warren Buffett- TRUE MENTAL TOUGHNESS:Treat people really wellGive your absolute bestBring a great attitudeBe unconditionally gratefulEven when you think your circumstances suck- We don’t wait for applause. We quietly and relentlessly train in the dark, with complete trust that our moment in the bright lights will come.- While many people measure winning by how much money they make, how many deals they close, how many championships they have, or the cars they drive….Winning is overcoming challengesWinning is getting in the arena even though you could fall flat on your face.Winning is when your grandkids forget your age because you feel more like a friend than someone 50 years older than them.Winning is beating the fear of what other people think.Winning is opening yourself up to feel all life offers.Winning is when you become a shining star for others in their darkest momentsWinning is getting people to give you their heart because you were willing to give them yours

Is a fable that has many lessons for everyone
In reading an article in Sports Illustrated about Ja Morant, NBA super star- he was told by his coach to read “Win in the Dark”. I bought it and just finished reading. Is about a young man dreaming of becoming a high-line walkers, those brave souls that walk tightrope above cities. His grandpa a professional high line walker and teacher- teaches Nico the basics. My takeaways are in the dark when you grinding and there’s no one there to praise you- where the real work is done. The buffaloes run into the storm, be like the buffaloes, expect setbacks, do like the Navy Seals, visualizing trouble and see how you defeat it. And spoiler alert: letters for each occasion. That was touching.

Countless Nuggets
This is my first time writing a review on Amazon. I am not a big reader yet this is the second book by Josh and Lucas I have finished in a few days. When you purchase this book add some highlighters cause you will need them. There are countless nuggets throughout the story. The chapters are short but in each one there is a point and a lesson. What I love about their books is it's relatable. As you read the story and lessons presented you can relate a situation in your life where you were in that situation. Or there is someone you know that relates to the story and situation. I have become a big book gifter and the #1 book I have gifted has been Chop Wood, Carry Water. This one will compete with that as I will start sending this book to those that I know will be able to relate and benefit from reading the book. Tremendous job guys you crushed it again!

An Easy Read with Many Valuable Lessons
Win in the Dark is any easy read with many life lessons, but the premise, though simple in its concept is one we often overlook day to day. Instead of enjoying the journey and celebrating the small wins we have when noone is looking, we are focused only on the finish line and how others will see us. Indeed, we are all walking on a tightrope of our own making and reframing our expectations and getting back on that wire are just a few of the gems gleaned from this book. I highly recommend it!

Great story for young athletes.
If you liked Chop Wood Carry Water and Pound the Stone, then you will like this too. Same style, with short chapters that are easy for young adults to move through.

Impactful! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Joshua’s books are some of the very best and most valuable I have read, Chop Wood Carry Water, Pound The Stone, Win In The Dark and Hustle are some of my favourite and purchased them all on Audible and they were so good I had to get the physical books of them. I feel that all these books should be studied in schools & the stories are powerful and the lessons in them are invaluable. There are so many life lessons in these and really resonated with me & have made a really positive impact in my life.
