Former In-Home therapist approved
As a therapist, I appreciate using games in session and how useful they can be, especially with kids as it motivates them to focus for 30 minutes then play a game. Games teach kids and families so much, and help improve that relationship. This book gave me a starting point with how to use games therapeutically for therapy and allowed me to consider how to adapt other games I have for therapy. Great book and I highly recommend if you work with kids.

Great for my groups!
I run groups of student grades k-12th and I have found over and over great ideas to help with all types of topics. I have tabs all over in the book. I think that children learn better from a game then by anything else. There are so many ideas for different games in here that it makes it fun for my students. I really like this book, I would say it was one of the best idea books I have purchased.

Great ideas! More indexing would be helpful.
I love the creativity!! I wish the index listing them by topic was in the front of the book and was more thorough. I am more likely to need an activity for the client's problem (i.e. communication) than by what game. Also, I wish the tops of the activity had an icon or label for the topic so I could more easily skim through it, rather than having to read each description completely to know if it would be useful for the presenting problem I am treating. Overall, great book!

Good Book
I have bought this book three times now because I have coworkers that continue to borrow it and not return it! I have used this book over my carrier in settings with both adults, children and teens. It was worked best with me with teens, though many of the games work with adults in residential and PHP/IOP settings as well. I love the process questions too which helps when training interns or non-therapy staff how to run psychoeducational groups. Overall great product! I highly recommend it!

Great way to turn old game favorites into a learning experience!
I work with adult addicts with co-occurring challenges. I'm not a fan of giving lectures and preaching to a room full of uninterested, bored and sometimes court ordered young adults who think they know more than the rest of us. This book provides many creative ideas to the same old "coping, self esteem, anger management, communication skills" groups. Less lecture, more fun and experiential ways of learning these skills. In doing so, the dialogue is client driven after just a few of the prompts provided in the book. I would recommend this to counsellors of youth and adults.

You have to incorporate games you might not have
The book had great ideas although you have to have all the extra games like Scrabble Monopoly etc to go along with this book so I was kind of disappointed

Fun and effective ideas
I counsel middle school and high school kids and finding entertaining ways to prompt discussion and teach therapeutic lessons makes it easier to reach the kids. They learn things about themselves in the process of having "fun." Many of the variations and ideas are from games easily accessible in most family closets. I also did variations of suggested ideas to fit smaller groups or adapt to the needs of my groups. This book was great in helping me think outside of the box. Highly recommend for families or therapists.

Used EVERY day in Process Group
I can't believe how often I use the exercises in this boomK, literally do something from it every day to promote connection and the clients, who are grown men struggling with addiction, LOVE IT.
