The answer that specifies your frequency limitations is correct. If you connect a full range speaker, it will not sound good. But you can if you don't care about sound quality, in which case you should just go back under your rock and stay there.

I would want to use this for aux input only. can i set it to default to aux input? or do i have to switch from bluetooth to aux each time i power on?

It comes default in aux , there is no such switch for it , to answer your question in simple words, when you get it just connect the aux to it and don't werry about nothing else.
